A barge transport system comprises one or several barges and at least one powered push vessel connectable to each of said barges for the transport thereof by pushing. The push vessel as well as each of the barges are provided with means for connecting the push vessel rigidly to a selected barge. The connecting means comprise connection members in the front portion of the push vessel as well as in its stern portion. The connection members in the stern portion of the push vessel are movable in the transverse direction of the push vessel into a mechanically positively locking connection position. The connection members and their counterparts are formed to exert a wedge effect on the connection, thereby minimizing any movement inducing connection clearance between the push vessel and the associated barge.

Barge transport system

A big passenger ship having passenger cabins as well as general purpose spaces and service rooms. The ship is divided into an upper part and a lower part of which the lower part extends up to the uppermost deck reaching all over the hull of the ship. The lower part is at least substantially free from passenger cabins and least substantially all of the passenger cabins are in the form of outside cabins located to a multifloor unit forming the upper part of the ship. This unit is considerably narrower than the lower part of the ship and is constructed according to the rules applicable to constructions above the uppermost through-going deck of a ship.

Passenger ship

The invention relates to a method for building a passenger section consisting of several cabin units (7) or similar in the superstructure of a ship with several floor levels located above the actual hull on the topmost deck (1) covering the entire hull of the ship. The passenger section is assembled by installing prefabricated cabin units (7) with a bottom construction embodying sufficient local strength so, that they are supported by at least one self-supporting three-dimensional latticework or frame consisting of braced girders (3, 3', 4, 5) or similar, the requisite overall strength of the superstructure being substantially based on this latticework or frame.

Ship construction

The invention relates to a ship that is adapted for operating in ice-filled waters and has a general frame form defining a substantially horizontal bottom surface, two side surfaces, a stern and a blow portion that breaks the ice advantageously. The bottom surface comprises one or a greater number of cavities, extending to or located on both sides of the longitudinal symmetry plane of the ship, in which cavity or cavities there are arranged movable sheetlike elements. The sheetlike elements have a first position, in which said elements form a generally continuous part of the bottom surface, and a second position, in which said elements form, below the bottom surface, a substantially vertical wedge-shaped structure that converges in the direction from the stern of the hull towards the bow of the hull. The elements are provided with power units which bring about movement of the elements from one position to another by turning around a swivelling axis arranged in the longitudinal direction of the elements.
