One example embodiment of the present invention is a control system for an actuator that is controlled by a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal. The control system includes at least two controllers that are connected to the actuator. Each of the controller sends an independent sequence of PWM signal to the actuator. The actuator is controlled by a combination of the PWM signals from all the controllers together. The controllers are synchronized by a clock signal that provides a sequence of periodic clock interval and the PWM signal from each controller occupies a separate and non-overlapping clock interval from the PWM signal of other controllers.

System and method for reliable controller

A robotic actuator includes an internal anchor and an instrument. The internal anchor is adapted to be inserted into a body via an entrance port, positioned inside the body, and magnetically coupled with an external anchor positioned outside the body. The instrument is adapted to be inserted into the body via the entrance port and secured to the internal anchor. The instrument includes an end-effector having multiple degrees of movement via multiple axes, and a plurality of actuators that provide the multiple degrees of movement.

Magnetic-anchored robotic system

A surgical system includes an external anchor, an internal anchor and an instrument. The external anchor is adapted to be positioned outside a body. The internal anchor is adapted to be inserted into the body via a single entrance port, positioned inside the body and magnetically coupled with the external anchor. The instrument is adapted to be inserted into the body via the single entrance port and secured to the internal anchor. The instrument includes an end-effector that has multiple degrees of movement via multiple axes.

A surgical system includes a manipulator, an implantable actuator and a controller. The manipulator includes a plurality of integrated sensor/actuators. The sensors of the sensor/actuators are adapted to detect movement about a plurality of axes of movement. The implantable actuator includes a plurality of joints providing a plurality of axes of movement. The controller is configured to receive information from the plurality of sensor/actuators that indicates movement of the manipulator about the plurality of axes and to cause the joints of the actuator to move along corresponding axes of movement. Each sensor/actuator of the manipulator detects movement about an axis of movement corresponding to a similar one of the joints of the actuator.

Chipless microwave identification tag

A vertical micro-injection machine includes a plasticizing unit, in which a feeding channel is provided and a screw or a plunger for transporting the molten material is provided in the feeding channel; an injection unit adapted to receive a metered amount of molten material from the plasticizing unit; an injection mold adapted to receive the metered amount of molten material from the injection unit; at least two thrust cylinders adapted to close the injection mold before injection and open the injection mold after injected parts solidified; and the injection unit includes an injection cylinder, the injection cylinder is connected with the feeding channel of the plasticizing unit, and a vertically reciprocating plunger is provided in the injection cylinder, which can expel air above the molten material in the injection cylinder by its upward advancement and then push the molten material into the injection mold. The vertical micro-injection machine according to the invention can eliminate the need for valves, avoids air entrapment in the molten plastic, provides a very high speed injection and reduces dead zones in the injection process that trap and degrade the material quality.

Vertical micro-injection machine

A novel corer and grinder apparatus suitable for interplanetary travel and extraplanetary operation is disclosed. The corer grinder composes a claw element attached to a shaft coupled to a motor. A second motor compresses a spring forcing against a hammer unit that constitute the majority of the unit's mass. On release the energy stored in the compressed spring converts into momentum of the hammer unit that strikes against the claw element releasing the impact energy directly to the cutting end for cutting. The direction of the energy released is modified by an impact platform to produce a horizontal chipping action to aid cutting. The claw element further comprises a pair of semi-cylindrical claw elements that separate upon rotation of the shaft in a first direction, easing collection of core samples. The semi-cylindrical claw elements join upon rotation of the shaft in the opposite direction, thereby grasping the core sample during removal from the material being sampled. Operation of a third motor during rotation of the shaft extends and orbitally moves an X-Y table that permits the corer grinder to operate as a surface grinder over a relatively large surface area. Floating couplings of the claw elements minimize the transmission of vibration to internal elements of the corer grinder.
