A thermal inkjet ink includes a water-based vehicle; a colorant; and a modified siloxane surfactant including a plurality of components. Each component has a chemical formula I: SiOCH. For each component: y ranges from 2 to 4; x and z each range from 0 to 14; x+z=from 0 to 14; j, m, and n are the number of carbon atoms, respectively, in R, R, and R; o, p, and q are the number of hydrogen atoms, respectively, in R, R, and R. Ris selected from H, an alkyl, and an aryl. Each of R2 and R3 is selected from H, an alkyl, an alkyl substituted with an allylic or an epoxy group, an aryl, and an aryl substituted with an allylic or an epoxy group. For some components: x+z=from 7 to 14.

Examples of optically clear fluid compositions are disclosed herein. In one example, the optically clear fluid composition includes an aqueous vehicle, an anionic polymeric binder dispersed in the aqueous vehicle, and wax particles incorporated in the aqueous vehicle. The anionic polymeric binder has a glass transition temperature (T) that is higher than 40 C, and a pH ranging from about 7 to about 11. An optically clear fluid composition includes a vehicle including an organic solvent, a polymeric binder dispersed in the vehicle, and metal oxide particles dispersed in the vehicle. The metal oxide particles have an effective diameter ranging from about 20 nm to about 140 nm, and are chosen from metal oxide particles that are optically clear and have a refractive index that is larger than 1.65, and the metal oxide particles are only one type of metal oxide particle selected from the group consisting of aluminum oxide and zinc oxide.

A method of printing an image includes co-dispensing a compensation vehicle and an ink from an ink set to sites on a printing medium to form a printed image. A combined amount of the ink and the compensation vehicle dispensed to each site is at least substantially equal to a minimum site value that is predetermined for the ink set and the printing medium. The method further includes applying an amount of an overcoat liquid to the printed image to obtain a predetermined ratio of gloss to haze.
