The embodiments herein relate to a method in a user equipment () for communicating with a base station () in a communications network (). The user equipment () is configured to communicate with the base station () according to a selectable of at least two user equipment categories. The user equipment () selects one of the at least two user equipment categories if information indicating the one of the user equipment categories is received from the base station (). The user equipment () selects a default of the user equipment categories if no information indicating which of the user equipment categories is received from the base station (). The user equipment () determines a soft buffer size according to the selected user equipment category. The user equipment () communicates with the base station () according to the selected user equipment category and applying the determined soft buffer size.

There is provided a method for providing Observed Time Difference of Arrival (OTDOA) Reference Signal Time Difference (RSTD) measurements from a wireless device to a location server. According to some embodiments, a method for use in a wireless device of acquiring system information associated with a core network comprises receiving system information from a network node. The network node is connected to one or more core networks. The system information includes an indication of a network type (e.g., enhanced packet system (EPS), fifth generation system (5GS), etc.) for each core network. The method further comprises determining a capability of the wireless device for connecting to the plurality of network types, and determining whether to connect to a core network based on the network type and the capability of the wireless device. In particular embodiments, the indication of the network type comprises a list of public land mobile networks (PLMNs) connected to the network node and an indication of network types supported by each PLMN.
