A respiration humidifier (), including a humidifying chamber (), an inlet () for feeding breathing air () to be humidified into the humidifying chamber (), an outlet () for releasing the humidified breathing air () from the humidifying chamber (), a bottom () limiting the humidifying chamber () for receiving water () to be evaporated, water (), which is received by the bottom () in the humidifying chamber () and is to be evaporated for humidifying the breathing air () and at least one distributor () with capillary and/or suction action, which is arranged in the humidifying chamber () such that this is in contact with the water () to take up water () in the distributor () and is in contact with the breathing air in the humidifying chamber () for evaporating the water () taken up on the surface of the distributor () into the breathing air (). The respiration humidifier allows a high evaporating capacity to be reached with homogeneous air-vapor mixture at a low design effort. Furthermore, splash water is avoided in the humidifying chamber and the respiration humidifier is able to be manufactured at a low cost. This object is accomplished by the at least one distributor () covering at least 50% of the surface of the water ().

Respiration humidifier

A humidifying device for breathing gases. The humidifying device has a housing with a recess, a heater, an evaporating chamber with a water feed, a breathing gas feed channel, a breathing gas outlet channel and at least one float element and at least one filling level indicator. The evaporating chamber can be introduced at least partially into the recess and is in contact with the heater to heat water and is designed to receive water from a water reservoir through the water feed. The at least one float element is guided in a floatingly movable manner on the water and is designed to close the feed of water above a water level set point in the evaporating chamber, and the at least one filling level indicator is designed to recognize the drop of the water level from the water level set point as a function of the position of the at least one float element.
