Further, the multiplexed data is transmitted from each of the multiple access nodes to a donor node. At the donor node, a unique donor code is assigned and is multiplexed with the donor node data. The multiplexed data from the multiple access nodes and the multiplexed donor node data are transmitted in parallel from the donor node to a core network.

Method and system for concurrently transmitting signals

A method and a system for concurrently transmitting from an antenna a first sequence of data from a first access node and a second sequence of data from a second access node is presented. Systems, methods, and processing nodes for obtaining radio network characteristics associated with network traffic, determining a type of network traffic and/or network session, allocating resources towards a network traffic session based on the type thereof (or type of network traffic), and performing additional network optimization operations based thereon, including but not limited to metering, billing, and service adjustments such as reallocation of resources. Consequently, resource usage patterns of different data types can be made predictable to a network operator, enabling optimal allocation of network resources, adjustments of latency, and thus providing an optimal user experience.

Non-intrusive traffic analysis for wireless networks

A computing system will detect when a UE engaged in a voice call hands over from a lower frequency coverage area to a higher frequency coverage area where it is raining, and the computing system will responsively take action to help improve the UE's communication quality, in an effort to help minimize the extent to which voice call quality will degrade as a result of the transition to the higher frequency where it is raining. In particular, per the disclosure, the computing system could respond to this scenario by causing the target base station to use a more robust wireless transmission mode than the source base station was using to serve the UE.

Systems and methods are described for routing data traffic based on network conditions. Network conditions for a communication network may be monitored, where the communication network comprises a first access node and a second access node that are in communication using a first communication link and a second communication link. The monitored network conditions may include at least a utilization of the second communication link. It may be determined that the network conditions meet a criteria. A first classification may be assigned to a message when it is determined that the network conditions meet the criteria. The first access node may be instructed to transmit the message over the first communication link based on the first classification when the network conditions meet the criteria and to transmit the message over the second communication link when the network conditions fail to meet the criteria.

Systems and methods for routing data traffic based on network conditions

A wireless device is determined to be in communication with a first access node is at a location in a coverage area of a first communication network, and it is determined whether the wireless device is in communication with the first access node using a first radio access technology or a second radio access technology. The availability of the first r and the second radio access technologies from the first communication network are determined, and the wireless device is permitted to register with the PTT communication system when the wireless device is in communication with the access node using the first radio access technology. Further, the wireless device is prevented from registering with the PTT communication system when the wireless device is in communication with the access node using the second radio access technology and the first radio access technology is available for the wireless device.

Managing registration with a push-to-talk communication system

Wireless device information comprising a power level of a successful access probe sent by wireless devices to an access node and a location of each of the wireless devices relative to the access node is acquired. Based on the wireless device information, a first access probe power level is determined. The determined first access probe power level is provided to a new wireless device and an access probe is received from the new wireless device using the first access probe power level.

Access latency reduction

A first number of wireless devices in communication with an access node over a first frequency band is determined. A total bandwidth and a spectral efficiency of the first frequency band are determined, and a throughput provided to each of the first number of wireless devices in the communication between the access node and the first number of wireless devices is calculated. Based on the total bandwidth of the first frequency band, the spectral efficiency of the first frequency band, and the throughput provided to each of the first number of wireless devices, a second number of wireless devices permitted to communicate with the access node over the first frequency band is determined. To determine a third number of wireless devices permitted to communicate with the access node over the first frequency band, the throughput provided to each of the first number of wireless devices is adjusted.

Managing connected users of a wireless communication system

A first cell is selected as a center cell for testing. Downlink transmissions from a one or more surrounding cells are loaded with test load levels. The downlink transmissions, when loaded with test load levels, include a selected amount(s) of the data portions of their transmission frames carrying orthogonal channel noise (OCN). A performance indicator of the center cell is measured/determined while the surrounding cell(s) are transmitting test load levels and while the center cell is communicating user traffic between the center cell and a first plurality of wireless devices. The test load levels of the surrounding cells may also include user traffic in addition to the OCN.

A method and apparatus to manage a communication device are disclosed. The method includes receiving a first message comprising a first battery charge level of the communication device and a first time associated with the first battery charge level, storing a first database entry comprising information comprised in the first message, in a battery charge database, determining based on data from the battery charge database, or retrieving from a power management database, a power management efficiency factor of the communication device, determining an expected operational time of the communication device based on the first message and the power management efficiency factor, and transmitting an indication that the battery charge level is low when the determined operational time remaining meets an expected operational time criteria, to the communication device.

A method and system to manage idle mode operation of a communication device are disclosed. The method includes receiving from the communication device a request to enter idle mode comprising a request to enable automatic renewal of an internet protocol (IP) address currently assigned to the communication device, transmitting, to an IP address allocation unit which allocated the IP address to the communication device, the idle mode request, receiving, from the IP address allocation unit, an idle mode response comprising an IP lease update acknowledgement associated with the idle mode request, transmitting, to the communication device, the idle mode response, enabling automatic renewal of the IP address, configuring an idle mode timer, and transmitting to the IP address allocation unit, an IP lease update request corresponding to the IP address, when the idle mode timer expires and the communication device is in idle mode.

Method and apparatus for idle mode synchronization

In systems and methods of reducing latency in a wireless communication system, a first signal of a first radio access technology and a second signal of a second radio access technology are received at a first antenna and a second antenna of a wireless device. From a first circulator the first signal received at the first antenna and the second antenna are received and combined to generate a combined first signal. In addition, from a second circulator the second signal received at the first antenna and the second antenna are received and combined to generate a combined second signal. While receiving the first signal of the first radio access technology, a call request is received over the second signal of the second radio access technology.

Reducing wireless communication latency

A signal is received at a plurality of antennas of a wireless device, and a signal strength indicator is calculated for the signal received at each of the plurality of antennas. From the plurality of antennas, a subset of antennas associated with the highest signal strength indicators are selected, and maximum ratio combining is performed on the signals received by the selected subset of antennas.
