An EL element including an EL light-emitting structure including a light-emitting layer on a transparent electrode, and a counter electrode on the light-emitting layer, a translucent substrate, and a light scattering layer between the EL light-emitting structure and the translucent substrate, the light scattering layer having a first surface on a transparent electrode side and a second surface on a side of the translucent substrate. The light scattering layer includes light scattering particles which includes particles that form agglomerates in a portion of the first surface such that the portion of the first surface has a concavo-convex shape. The light scattering particles further include particles positioned in order along the second surface such that the second surface is smoother than the portion of the first surface having the concavo-convex shape.

The present invention provides an anti-glare film which has not only &#x3c;1&#x3e; sufficient anti-reflection property but also &#x3c;2&#x3e; a high level of contrast and &#x3c;3&#x3e; strong anti-glare properties and can be applied on a surface of various display devices such as a note PC, a desktop PC and a TV monitor. The anti-glare film of the present invention includes an anti-glare layer which has concavities and convexities on the surface, a haze according to JIS-7105-1981 in the range of 1.0-5.0%, and an average interval between concavities and convexities on the anti-glare layer surface Sm according to JIS-B0601-1994 in the range of 10-150 &#x3bc;m.

Anti-glare film with concave-convex structure

The present invention provides an anti-glare film which has &#x3c;1&#x3e; sufficient anti-reflection properties, &#x3c;2&#x3e; a high level of contrast and &#x3c;3&#x3e; strong antifouling properties. A surface of an anti-glare layer of the anti-glare film of the present invention has a concave-convex structure, an arithmetic mean roughness (Ra) according to JIS B0601-1994 in the range of 0.02-0.2 &#x3bc;m when a cut-off wavelength (&#x3bb;c) is 0.8 mm, and a surface free energy in the range of 15-25 mN/m. In addition, a haze of the anti-glare layer of the anti-glare film of the present invention is in the range of 1.0-5.0%.

An antiglare film includes a transparent substrate, and an antiglare layer formed on the transparent substrate. The antiglare layer includes a binder matrix and acrylic-styrene copolymer particles, and the binder matrix includes an acrylic material having a hydroxyl group. A quotient R/H, which is obtained by dividing the average diameter Rof the acrylic-styrene copolymer particles by the average thickness H of the antiglare layer, is within a range of 0.30 to 0.80. A product in |n&#x2212;n|&#xd7;w&#xd7;H, which is the product of: the absolute value |n&#x2212;n| obtained by subtracting the average refractive index nof the binder matrix from the refractive index nof the acrylic-styrene copolymer particles; the content wof the acrylic-styrene copolymer particles when the content wof the binder matrix in the antiglare layer is 100 parts by weight; and the average thickness H of the antiglare layer, is within a range of 0.70 to 3.00.
