The mobile device may comprise: a first sensor; a second sensor to use more power than the first sensor; and a processor coupled to the first sensor and the second sensor. The processor may be configured to: collect data from the first sensor; determine if an environmental change occurred based on the collected data from the first sensor; engage the second sensor to collect data if the environmental change occurred; and modify a polling rate for the second sensor based on the collected data from the second sensor.

Methods and devices provide a wireless communications hub device and services enabling remote access to electronic medical or fitness devices in a manner that simplifies device networking. A wireless communication hub device may include a processor and wireless communication transceivers configured to connect to cellular and/or WiFi networks to access a remote server, and wired and/or wireless local networks for connecting to electronic medical or fitness devices. The wireless communication hub device may plug into a power source, connect to an electronic medical or fitness device, and communicate via a second wireless network with an associated server-based service. Various embodiments include methods implemented on a server for determining a network transmission path for medical data. The methods may include receiving a request from a requesting node to transmit medical data to a destination node, determining a list of qualified nodes for use in establishing a network for transmitting the medical data to the destination node, and determining at least one transmission path from the requesting node to the destination node using the list of qualified nodes. The method may further include deputizing each node in the at least one transmission path by sending each node in the at least one transmission path credentials that configure each node in the at least one transmission path to communicate the medical data according to a communications standard, and instructing the requesting node to transmit the medical data through the transmission path.

Implementations relate to generating an operator, device, and platform-independent aggregation, cross-platform translation, enablement, and distribution of user activity catalogs. Users of a cellular telephone, a personal computer, or other devices or services can register to a database that collects transaction and other activity for the user. The user can designate one or more groups of users with whom to share collective activity data. The activity feeds can include recommendations, transactions, and other information generated when group members conduct retail or other activity. In one example, the activity feeds transmitted can be automatically translated and configured based on service operator and/or recipient device type. In another example, a user visiting a Website can be presented with a context-sensitive drop-down list of transactions conducted at that site by members of user's designated group(s) in the past. The platform permits users to mutually and transparently suggest products, services, or content to each other.
