The invention relates to a disc tumbler cylinder lock and a key for it. The key according to the invention comprises a groove that is transverse to the key shank. The groove comprises a bottom section and side sections that are transverse to the bottom section between the bottom section and the outer surface of the key shank. The bottom section of the groove is the key's main driving surface used to transfer turning force to the disc tumbler cylinder lock. This reduces wear on the O-surfaces of the key because the O-surfaces do not transfer the majority or any of the key turning force to the disc tumbler cylinder lock.

Key and disc tumbler cylinder lock

A cylinder lock comprising a lock body (1) and inside it a rotatable lock cylinder (2) enclosing a number of locking discs (4;6) turnable by the key (3) of the lock and provided with a peripheral notch (8) determining the combination of the lock, and a locking bar (7), which in the locking position prevents turning of the lock cylinder (2) with regard to the lock body (1). The locking discs (4) are also provided with a set of second peripheral notches (10) arranged in cooperation with an auxiliary bar (11) so as to prevent turning of the locking discs (4;6) relatively to each other at the end phase of the turning movement for opening the lock before the locking bar (7) moves into its position for releasing the lock. The second peripheral notches (10) are located outside of the cutting range for said combination peripheral notches (8) and are arranged side by side on the peripheral edge of each of the locking discs (4). Their number corresponds to the number of the possible cuts for the combination peripheral notch (8), and the pitch between them corresponds to the mutual pitch between the combination peripheral notches (8). The auxiliary bar (11) is continuously located partly inside the lock cylinder (2) and limits the turning range of the locking discs (4;6). The lock includes further at least one member continuously turning with the key (3) for guiding the radial movement of the auxiliary bar (11).

Cylinder lock

The invention relates to disc cylinder lock-key-combination, including a cylinder housing (1), and inside thereof, a turnable inner cylinder (2), which encloses a set of discs comprising a number of locking discs (3,4) provided with peripheral notches (8) and separated from one another by means of intermediate discs (5), and a locking bar (10), which in the locked position of the lock is located partly in a groove in the cylinder housing and partly in a slot (9) in the inner cylinder thereby preventing the inner cylinder to be turned with regard to the cylinder housing. The locking discs (3,4) are turnable by means of the key (12) of the lock into a position, in which the peripheral notches (8) form a uniform channel at the position of said slot (9) of the inner cylinder, into which channel the locking bar (10) can enter from the groove of the cylinder housing thereby releasing the inner cylinder to turn with regard to the cylinder housing. In accordance with the invention a guiding element (18), cooperating with the key (12) and extending at least substantially across the axial length of the set of discs, is arranged in the keyway formed jointly by the key openings (6,7) of the discs (3,4,5) in the set of discs. The lock includes further at least one member (3,23) turning continuously with the key when the key is turned in the lock, to which member the guiding element (18) is supported and from which the guiding element (18) is arranged to receive its guidance.

Cylinderlock-key-combination

The invention relates to a cylinder lock including a number of locking discs (4) turnable by means of the key (8) of the lock and separated from each other by intermediate discs (5) and provided with a key opening (6) and with a peripheral notch (7), and a locking bar (3) which, when the lock is in the locking position, prevents turning of the set of discs and force transmission from the key (8). According to the invention the peripheral notches (7) of the locking discs are located so that the locking discs (4) are placeable in the set of discs in either way with regard to their plane, and at least some of the locking discs (4) are formed so that a surface (6a) of the key opening (6) of the locking disc co-operating with the corresponding combination surface of the key (8) is in the axial direction of the set of discs substantially shorter than the length of the part (A) of the key way of the lock corresponding to said locking disc (4) and located asymmetrically with regard to the locking disc (4) in the axial direction in such a way that turning of said locking disc (4) in the set of discs around an axis in the plane of said disc causes the location of the corresponding combination surface (14) of the key (8) on the key blade to be changed.

A cylinder lock comprising a cylinder housing and therein a turnable cylinder enclosing a plurality of tumbler discs turnable by means of the key of the lock. Between the cylinder housing and the peripheral edges of the tumbler discs, there is a locking bar locking the cylinder to the cylinder housing. This bar is movable from a position locking the cylinder, in which position it is located partly in a groove in the internal wall of the cylinder housing, to a position releasing the cylinder by entering a channel formed jointly by notches in the peripheral edges of the tumbler discs when the discs are turned to a certain position. The movement of the locking bar is laterally guided by means of guiding discs, at least substantially non-rotatably fitted with respect to the cylinder. When the lock mechanism is fully released, the turning force transmitted by the key of the lock, is transmitted from the key to a tumbler disc, therefrom to the locking bar and from the locking bar to the guiding discs and through them to the cylinder.

A cylinder lock comprising a fixed, hollow cylinder housing and therein a plurality of tumbler discs turnable by means of the key of the lock. Each tumbler disc has a peripheral recess, and there is a locking bar extending axially relative to the locking discs and being radially guided by them when moving between an outer locking position and an inner releasing position. There is also a turnable force-transmission member non-turnably connected to the locking bar. Between the locking discs, there are spacer discs, each provided with a peripheral recess at the position of the locking bar. This recess is so formed, that it guides, in the tangential direction of the spacer discs, the radial movement of the locking bar. The locking discs as well as the spacer discs are turnably guided and radially supported directly by the internal surface of the cylinder housing. The locking discs, the spacer discs and the locking bar have guiding surfaces acting in a tangential direction of the lock. These surfaces provide a tangential locking of the spacer discs relative to the locking bar in all functional positions of the lock as well as fixed limits for the movability range of the locking discs relative to the locking bar and means for obtaining a force transmission from the locking discs to the locking bar at the limits of the movability range of the locking discs.

Disc cylinder lock

A key profile system of a disc cylinder lock is disclosed in which system the appropriateness of a certain key profile for use in a lock is determined by the form of a key receiving opening in the actual locking elements of the lock, that is, the locking discs. The system comprises several different key profiles the form of which can be included within the border line of the basic profile of the used key blank. At least one of the key profiles fits functionally into a lock made for another key profile. The system may also include keys or key blanks with at least two different profiles arranged axially one after the other.
