The invention relates to a magnetically coupled charging system and method. The magnetically coupled charging system comprises: a resonant inverter; a split core transformer configured to receive a resonant power from the resonant inverter; and a rectifier assembly configured to receive a transformed resonant power from the split core transformer and transmit the transformed resonant power to a to-be-charged battery; the split core transformer comprising a primary winding and a secondary winding, wherein the primary and secondary windings are split from each other, the resonant inverter and the primary winding of the split core transformer are arranged in an onshore charging system, the rectifier assembly and the secondary winding of the split core transformer are arranged in an onboard charger. The invention has the following advantages of: eliminating the risk of electric shock and short circuit fault at a connection point and eliminating an arcing or sparking problem.

The first energy storage source includes an ammonia tank configured to hold ammonia, an ammonia converter configured to receive ammonia from the ammonia tank and convert the received ammonia into hydrogen, and a fuel cell system communicating with the ammonia converter and configured to generate output power from hydrogen that is received from the ammonia converter.

Methods and apparatus for detecting possible living body contact at an electrical contact surface is disclosed, comprising sending a non-hazardous probing signal to the contact surface, detecting an electrical response from the contact surface in response to the electrical probing signal, and determining whether a captured responsive signal has characteristics of an expected responsive pulse, and to output a positive output signal indicative of possible living body to mitigate risks of electrical shock.

Method and apparatus for load monitoring

A method of detecting possible living body contact at an electrical contact surface, wherein the living body has a detectable characteristic initial impedance and a corresponding characteristic time constant defined by the initial impedance upon touching the electrical contact surface when the electrical contact surface is at a touching voltage, wherein the method comprises sending a non-hazardous probing signal to the contact surface, wherein the probing signal comprises one probing pulse or a plurality of probing pulses forming a probing pulse train, and the probing pulse has a base voltage level and a probing voltage level which is above the base voltage level and equal to the touching voltage or a probing voltage level which is below the base voltage level and equal to the touching voltage; detecting an electrical response from the contact surface in response to the electrical probing signal, wherein the electrical response comprises electrical response signals; and determining from the electrical response signals whether there is possible living body contact at the electrical contact surface.

In a wireless power transfer (WPT) system, a power-transmitting unit has a loop-shaped magnetic core formed by alternately arranging high-permeability (HP) and low-permeability (LP) core sections to give an interleaving pattern. A primary coil wound on the magnetic core provides a magnetic flux traveling therein when excited by an AC power source. A power-receiving unit has a pickup core shaped and dimensioned to overlie one or any LP core section, and to partially overlap HP core sections immediately adjacent to the LP core section that is overlay. The pickup core has a relative permeability higher than that of the aforesaid LP core section, causing at least a part of the magnetic flux to divert from this LP core section to the pickup core. The diverted part of magnetic flux generates electrical power in a secondary pickup coil wound on the pickup core to achieve WPT.

A power supply control apparatus comprising a controller, a load current monitor and power connection circuitry operable by the controller for controlling power supply from a power source to a load. The controller is to operate to receive an identification number from a load and to use the identification number to retrieve a set of stored reference electrical parameters of the load from a set of databases, to measure operational electrical parameters of the load, to compare measured electrical parameters with the reference electrical parameters, and to determine whether the load is fit for power supply with reference to outcome of comparison between the measured electrical parameters and the reference electrical parameters.

Power supply control

A voltage balancing circuit is applied to a power supply system. The power supply system comprises N power storage devices. The voltage balancing circuit comprises: N switches, N capacitors and a controller; the N switches are respectively connected to the N serial power storage devices; the N switches are respectively connected to the first terminals of the N capacitors; the second terminals of the N capacitors are connected to a common neutral line; the controller is connected to the N switches through a control line to control the switching of the N switches. The voltage balancing circuit avoids power loss when balancing the voltage of a plurality of serial power storage devices, and is small in size and low-cost, and balances voltage quickly.

Voltage balancing circuit

A power supply control device comprises a controller and power connection circuitry. The power connection circuitry comprises a switchable power connection path between a source side and a load side. The power connection path is switchable to operate in a first operation state or an on-state in which state impedance between the source side and the load side is very low to permit flow of operation current through the power connection path, or a second operation state or an off-state in which state impedance between the source side and the load side is very high to impede flow of operation current through the power connection path. The controller is to operate to transmit at least one type of enquiry signals to the load side and to determine with reference to at least one type of received responsive signals whether a load on the load side is eligible for power supply connection. The controller is to switch the power connection path to the on-state or to maintain the power connection path to the on-state if the responsive signals indicate eligibility for power supply connection.

An active suspension system suitable for use with a vehicle, includes a passive suspension element with a first end adapted for rigid engagement to a sprung mass of the vehicle and a second end adapted for rigid engagement to an unsprung mass of the vehicle. Also included is an active suspension element with a linear switched reluctance actuator which has a first end adapted for rigid engagement to the sprung mass of the vehicle and a second end adapted for rigid engagement to the unsprung mass of the vehicle.

The present invention relates to an energy-saving system for three-phase induction motors and is based on the principle of variable voltage control at constant speed. It is composed of a microprocessor, exampling circuit, sensing circuit, acquiring circuit, firing circuit, and AC to AC converter. The system is to automatically adjust the voltage to the induction motor with the variation in the motor load, in order to obtain high operating power factor and efficiency. The system will result in considerable energy-savings when a three-phase induction motor runs under constant light-load or variable-load with low duty ratio.

Energy-saving controller for three-phase induction motors

The present invention relates to temperature compensation of HID lamps in automobiles. The invention concerns the manner in which the temperature of the HID lamp is accounted for in order to drive the lamp is at appropriate power from hot to cold conditions. In the present invention, the voltage across a capacitor in the temperature compensation circuit is sensed and used as a command signal to anticipate lamp temperature, and accordingly the reference power to the HID lamp is modulated depending on the temperature of the lamp. In the present invention, the lamp is driven with a higher power setting when the lamp is cold and with lower power setting when hot. This adaptive generation of reference power setting depending on the temperature of the lamp is implemented using the voltage across a capacitor in the temperature compensation circuit.
