The inventive working spindle comprises a spindle housing and a spindle shaft with axial positioning surface and axial contact surface by which the correct axial position of each fitting provided spindle shaft in the spindle housing is obtained. For torque-proof holding of the spindle shaft in the spindle housing, preferably with stationary motor, a braking unit is provided that comprises a radial outer part that is coupled with the spindle housing in a torque-proof manner and a radial inner part that is coupled with the spindle shaft in a torque-proof manner. The largest outer diameter of the peripheral surface of the inner part is smaller than the narrowest location of the through-opening of the spindle housing between the braking unit and the tool side end of the spindle housing. For this reason the spindle shaft can be readily removed from the spindle housing without disassembly measures of the braking unit, if required, and can be reinserted in reverse route. The inventive working spindle is simply constructed and can be versatilely used. Concurrently it is remarkably easy to maintain.

A machine-tool turret-type unit includes a turret disk that is free to rotate about a rotational axis, and a housing on which to mount the turret disk is provided. The housing includes at least one securing device to be secured to the securing section of the machine tool. The securing device includes at least one securing surface to rest against the securing section of the machine tool. The rotational axis lies within a first plane defined by the securing surface(s).

Machine-tool revolver unit

A grab picks up a hollow workpiece and displaces it to a machining station where, while the workpiece is held in the grab, a tool is engaged from outside with a first surface of the workpiece to finish the first surface. Then the workpiece is reoriented by the grab and engaged by a tool with a second surface of the workpiece to finish the second surface. Another tool is fitted through a large-diameter hole of the workpiece and positioned inside the workpiece adjacent a small-diameter hole and a drive spindle is coupled through the small-diameter hole to the other tool to machine an inner surface of the workpiece adjacent the small-diameter hole. These steps are then repeated to finish another interior surface of the workpiece adjacent another small-diameter hole. Finally the workpiece is displaced from the machining station and released from the grab.

Machining differential housings

In a method of machining a first and a second surface recess in a workpiece, the workpiece has a longitudinal axis and a first local Cartesian coordinate system. The machine tool has a longitudinal axis and a second local Cartesian coordinate system, the first and second surface recess are associated with a first and second recess longitudinal axis and a non-circular cross-section. The recesses are separated on the surface of the workpiece such that they are mirror images of each other about a plane along the longitudinal workpiece axis. A skew angle is defined between the first recess longitudinal axis and the workpiece axis in the first plane. The method includes setting the tool axis at a start or setting angle relative to a first major axis (Z-axis) in a first plane in the second local Cartesian coordinate system; rotating the first and second local Cartesian coordinate system relative to one another until a projection of the tool axis onto a second plane (X-Y plane) of the first local Cartesian coordinate system is parallel to a second major axis of the second local Cartesian coordinate system such that when the skew angle is 0.deg, the first surface recess is machined solely by displacement of the machine tool relative to the workpiece in the direction of the longitudinal tool axis (Z-axis), or when the skew angle of other than 0.deg, the first surface recess is machined solely by displacement of the machine tool relative to the workpiece in all three axes of the second local Cartesian coordinate system.
