A continuous casting installation, which has a vertically oriented strand guide arranged below a mold, wherein a drive for driving the cast strand and bending it into the horizontal direction are arranged below the strand guide. A drive that serves exclusively for driving the cast strand is installed below the lower end of the strand guide, and a drive that serves exclusively for bending the cast strand is installed below the drive for driving the cast strand. The drive that serves exclusively for driving the cast strand is installed at least partially in a cassette, which is detachably mounted in the continuous casting installation. The continuous casting installation also has a cooling chamber, and the cassette with the drive that serves exclusively for driving the cast strand is installed in the cooling chamber.

Continuous casting plant and method of operating a continuous casting plant

A device for the support and oscillation of a continuous casting mould () for casting liquid metal, particularly liquid steel, comprising guide elements () which are mounted on fixed carrier components () and which is actually by means of oscillation devices (). In order to shorten time required for mounting and dismounting and therefor to lower the down times and costs of said continuous casting device, a first module () is made of guide elements () and carrier components () and a second module () consists of the oscillation device (). A method for producing thin slabs whereby the cross-section thereof is reduced during solidification in a continuous casting device wherein the strand guide adjacent to the mold includes wedge-shaped adjustable roller-strand sections for regulating the thickness of the strand or the thin slabs. The thickness of the strand is reduced only on one point of the strand guide below the first segment downstream from the mold in an area of the strand containing a liquid core by regulating the strand guide rollers with a soft transition. The segment following the segment situated directly after the mold comprises a pivoting point on the input side and an adjusting means arranged on the output side.
