In dental ceramics containing zirconium dioxide and silicon-dioxide with a Zr/Si ratio of between 0.5 and 1.0, 1 to 12 wt % of aluminum oxide and up to 2 wt % of an alkali- or earth alkali metal oxide, those materials are selectively mixed with yttrium-stabilized zirconium dioxide with a Zr/Si ratio of the mixture being between 0.5 and 1 wt % and also a silicon organic compound as well as a compression aid, and a green body is formed from the mixture by milling, which green body is then sintered.

Dental ceramics and method for the manufacture thereof

The invention relates to a fiber optic material which comprises a polymer and at least one organic compound introduced therein. Said organic compound is a condensed aromatic ring system having two or more aromatic rings that are isocyclic or heterocyclic, wherein every heteroatom is associated with exactly one ring if the ring is heterocyclic. The fiber optic material according to the invention is preferably used for the core of an optical waveguide.

Fiber optic material and the use thereof

The invention proposes to produce a mixture that is shrink-resistant, or has a freely selectable degree of shrinkage, and can be used as a molding compound, and a method for producing a corresponding oxide-ceramic sintered body. The molding compound comprises an intermetallic compound and a wax. In the method for producing an oxide-ceramic sintered body, a green body is molded from a molding compound of this type, dewaxed and sintered in an oxidizing atmosphere to form a ceramic sintered body. The molding compound is suited for producing dentures and dental fillings.

Dental material based on polymerizable (for example ethylenically unsaturated) monomers, epoxides, ormocers, liquid crystal monomers, oxethanes, spiro-orthoesters or spiro-carbonates as binders, a catalyst for cold, hot and/or photo-polymerization, and fillers, and a process for its preparation. Porous glass ceramics, a process for their preparation and uses thereof are also described. Dental materials according to the invention are suitable as alternative materials to the use of amalgam fillings.
