There is described a method for motion monitoring of a machine, comprising a sensor, wherein a sensor signal is transmitted from the sensor to a controller and/or to a drive device, a failsafe controller or drive device being employed as controller or drive device. A help system, an automation device with such a help system and a method for providing help data are disclosed. The help system includes a first offline help facility which is installed as part of an application on a data processing device, the first help facility providing a user with help data based upon context data defined by the user, the help data being stored in the first help facility and thus on the data processing device. A second online help facility is provided which is accessed by the data processing device via the internet such that the context data defined by the user in relation to the first help facility is automatically adopted in the second help facility as context data, the second help facility providing the user with additional help data based on this context data, the help data being stored in the second help facility.

In order to protect control programs against unauthorized analysis and use during transport via public networks, asymmetrical keys are used. Following the compilation of the control program in the engineering system belonging to the supplier, the program is encrypted in a postprocessor and exported into a public web server. The customer loads the encrypted program into his long-term data holder, imports it into his engineering system and can edit it there in order to configure the control system. Only after editing are the encrypted parts of the program decrypted in a preprocessor and forwarded to the compiler.

The invention relates to a device, an engineering system and method for providing project data and/or project planning data of an automation project or of a component in a format which is defined by a standardized meta language, in particular XML. By converting project data and/or project planning data with a proprietary format into data with a format which is defined by a standardized meta language, in particular XML, and by providing this data with a defined format, external computer program products or tools which map onto data with the defined format can read-in, analyze, display and/or process this data without having to convert the project data and/or project planning data into a format which the respective computer program product or tool can read or process. By converting data with a defined format into data with a proprietary format, it is possible to make available data generated by external computer program products or tools to the automation project. As a result, the generation and modification of control programs can be considerably simplified and speeded up.
