The present invention addresses above-noted objectives by providing a dental component that includes a coronal end, an apical end, and a longitudinal axis extending between the coronal end and the apical end. The dental component also includes an interface for assembly to another dental component, the interface includes at least one indexing section for rotationally locking the dental component to the other dental component and at least one guiding section. The at least one guiding section and the at least one indexing section alternate about the longitudinal axis, wherein the guiding section includes an apically facing or coronally facing guiding surface. Further, a tangent to at least a portion of the guiding surface has a slope towards the next indexing section about the longitudinal axis.

The present invention relates to a placement device for a dental component, a method for handling a dental component with a placement device, a dental component for placement with a placement device and a set comprising a placement device and a dental component. The placement device () for a dental component () is preferably an implant and comprises a proximal end (), a distal end () and a coupling mechanism () for coupling the distal end () to the dental component. The coupling mechanism includes at least one movable pin () having a longitudinal axis (A) and being movable along its longitudinal axis (A) relative to the placement device () for engaging the dental component. It also includes at least one engagement part () at the distal end of the placement device () for engaging the dental component, the engagement part having a longitudinal axis (A). A secure interlock between the dental component and the placement device is achieved by arranging the longitudinal axis (A) of the engagement part () at an angle (&#x3b1;) relative to the longitudinal axis (A) of the movable pin ().
