A method for coding an image comprising a plurality of pixels. For at least one pixel of the plurality, a differential value is calculated from a value of the pixel and at least one surrounding pixel value, which occurs in the proximity of the pixel in the image. A quantizer is selected from a plurality of quantizers, and the differential value is assigned to a quantizer value by means of the selected quantizer. The quantizer value is assigned to a bit sequence by means of a coding. Thereby, the coding is based on an averaging of incidences of values the individual quantizers of the plurality can assume for pixel value differences respectively. Furthermore, a method is provided for transmitting an image comprising of a plurality of pixels to a receiver, an apparatus for coding an image comprising of a plurality of pixels and a system for transmitting image data.

Method and apparatus for coding image data

A method for determining a second quantizer for quantizing digital images, wherein the second quantizer is determined for a specified number of levels, which is at least two. For the determination, a first quantizer with a lower number of levels than the specified one is taken into consideration. Furthermore, a method for coding an image comprising a plurality of pixels, a computer-readable medium, an apparatus, which implements at least two quantizers as a digital circuit and a digital camera with such an apparatus is disclosed.

The invention relates to an image processing apparatus for processing image data of an image sensor with a regular arrangement of first pixels, wherein the image processing apparatus is configured to determine a brightness value for each of two or more virtual second pixels of the same size at different intermediate positions between the first pixels, wherein the determination of the respective brightness value comprises an interpolation of the pixels of a neighborhood of the respective intermediate position, by means of a local filter, wherein each of the local filters comprises a plurality of filter coefficients, wherein for at least one of the local filters more than one of the filter coefficients is unequal to zero, and wherein the sum of the squared filter coefficients for each of the local filters is equal to a constant value, which according to a first condition is the same for all local filters.

Determination of brightness values of virtual pixels

A device and a method for processing image information from an image sensor by means of a mosaic filter having a two-dimensionally periodically repeating two-dimensional filter basis consisting of a plurality of different color components. A two-dimensional local environment having a predetermined number of pixels is constructed from temporarily stored color image data filtered by the mosaic filter, and a low-pass filtering (FC) occurs, wherein a separate low-pass filter mask depending on the current phase position of the local environment with respect to the periodic filter basis is applied to the local environment for each of the color components. Furthermore, all color image data of the local environment are filtered by means of a high-pass filter (FH) having a predetermined filter mask, and the obtained high-pass-filtered color image data are added to corresponding low-pass-filtered color image data.

Method and device for color interpolation

The invention relates to an image processing device for processing image data from a digital camera comprising an image sensor with a regular pixel arrangement and an associated color filter with a predetermined color pattern. Said image processing device is designed to carry out all image processing operations with respect to a pixel of interest using image data from a single predetermined environment comprising several pixels.
