A busbar for a battery module is provided. The battery module includes a plurality of aligned battery cells, and the busbar includes: a busbar body portion extending in an extension direction and a plurality of legs extending from the busbar body portion in a direction non-parallel to the extension direction of the busbar body portion. The busbar body portion have a length to connect cell terminals of a plurality of the battery cells of the battery module, and the legs are configured to electrically connect the busbar body portion and the cell terminals of the battery cells of the battery module to each other.

A removable battery component carrier () for accommodating a battery submodule () and configured to be mechanically and electrically connected to other removable battery component carriers () and/or to a carrier frame is provided. The removable battery component carrier () comprises a bottom plate (), a pair of side walls () extending upward from the bottom plate () along two longitudinal edges of the bottom plate (), a pair of end plates () extending upwards from the bottom plate () along two transversal edges of the bottom plate (). The end plates () are mechanically coupled to the side walls () and/or to the bottom plate () to fix battery cells (') together. A cell cover () extends parallel to the bottom plate () so that the cell cover, the bottom plate, the side walls, and the end plates form an accommodating space for the battery submodule ().

A battery module includes: a plurality of battery cells aligned with each other in an alignment direction; a plurality of busbars; an inlay molded to at least one of the busbars and having a height equal to or less than the at least one busbar; and a top cover on the busbars. Each of the battery cells includes a battery case, an electrode assembly in the battery case, a cap assembly on the battery case, a gas exhaust vent in the cap assembly, and cell terminals protruding over the cap assembly. Each of the busbars electrically connects the cell terminals of a group of the battery cells to each other. The top cover covers the cap assemblies, the busbars, and the inlay, and the busbars and the inlay form a support surface facing towards the top cover to support the top cover.
