In order to ensure problem-free operation of a vehicle when a wedge of material is formed between the roadway and the vehicle, a method for controlling the functions of an electronic driving stability program automatically activates or deactivates the driving stability program of the vehicle according to the respective operational situation of the motor vehicle. The driving stability program is automatically deactivated when the vehicle drives onto a wedge of material on the roadway. A determination whether the vehicle drives onto a wedge of material on the roadway is made by means of the air springs of the vehicle and associated distance sensor and/or pressure sensors.

A method for detecting locking states in communication and/or control appliances (SG) dispersedly networked together by a data bus () compares a message currently transmitted by a communication and/or control appliance (SG) to a previously transmitted message. One or several vibration dampers of a vehicle suspension have a damping force arrangement wherein a control signal is computed within the actuating range in accordance with a standard control method for adjusting the damper characteristic. The drive of a damper adjustable in accordance with this invention is so improved that body movements (notwithstanding a harder adjusted damping for critical driving situations) are substantially suppressed as early as possible. In specific driving situations, the adjusting range of the damper force is changed in that the upper limit of the adjusting range is raised or lowered and/or the lower limit of the adjusting range is raised or lowered. A tire pressure control arrangement for a motor vehicle monitors the air pressure of at least one pneumatic tire and a signal is outputted from the arrangement when, in at least one tire of the motor vehicle, the air pressure drops below a lower threshold value or exceeds an upper threshold value. The lower and/or upper threshold value(s) are set in dependence upon the laden state of the motor vehicle. The laden state is determined with the aid of an air suspension system and the setting takes place automatically with the aid of the determined laden state.
