A user interface includes a touch-sensitive display and a display control unit for controlling the display. A method for controlling a household appliance using the graphical user interface includes the steps of: displaying a first graphical representation on the display, the first graphical representation including symbols, each symbol being associated with an appliance subunit of the household appliance; when a symbol is touched by a touching means, transmitting control signals from the control unit to the display to change the first graphical representation into a second graphical representation; displaying information regarding a change of a setting value of the appliance entity associated with the touched symbol when the touching means is dragged from a first position to a second position at the display; and changing the graphical representation at the display from the second graphical representation to a third graphical representation when lifting the touching means from the display.

Adaptive graphical user interface for appliance

A user interface includes a touch-sensitive display and a display control unit for controlling the touch-sensitive display. A method for controlling a household appliance using the graphical user interface includes the steps of: displaying a first graphical representation on the touch-sensitive display, the first graphical representation including one or more symbols (V, V), each symbol (V, V) being associated with an appliance subunit of the household appliance; touching a symbol (V, V) by a touching means in order to change of a setting value of the appliance subunit associated with the touched symbol (V) by moving the touching means; determining the moving speed of the touching means by the display control unit; and displaying information at the touch-sensitive display depending on the determined moving speed of the touching means.

The present invention relates to a switching element () for a control device, in particular of a domestic appliance. The switching element () comprises a rotatable and shiftable rim element () being rotatable around and shiftable along the same axis. The switching element () comprises a stator element (). The rim element () is rotatably and shiftably coupled to the stator element (). The switching element () comprises a micro switch () including a stationary part and a movable part (). The invention discloses a hob () with free configurable heating array () and touchscreen control (). A user may combine graphic representations () and () of a first and a second pot in order to combine a control operation of a first and a second heating zone () associated to the respective pots. A method for checking an ideal position of a cooking pot above an induction coil of an induction cooking hob is provided. The method includes the steps of: detecting a first parameter related to the power of the electromagnetic field and/or to the position of the cooking pot above the induction coil, detecting a second parameter related to the power of the electromagnetic field and/or to the position of the cooking pot above the induction coil, comparing the detected first and second parameters with a stored relationship between the first and second parameters and the position of the cooking pot above the induction coil, determining a deviation of the position of the cooking pot from the ideal position above the induction coil, and outputting at least one signal corresponding with the deviation of the position of the cooking pot from the ideal position, if the deviation exceeds a minimum value.
