A reflection surface () of a mirror () has a rotationally-symmetrical shape about an optical axis (). The mirror () is rotatably supported by a pivot supporting portion () on the position of the optical axis () of the reflection surface () or in the vicinity of the optical axis (). Furthermore, the mirror () is slidably supported by slide supporting portions () at two positions on the upper part thereof. With such a configuration, the mirror () is supported at three points. Further, even when the mirror () expands and contracts due to the change in temperature or the like, the deformation of the reflection surface () of the mirror () is prevented by the action of the slide supporting portions (). As a result, it is possible to prevent the generation of distortion of an image projected on a screen ().

Supporting mechanism of reflector and projection apparatus

A nozzle hole of a conductive nozzle plate exposes the liquid surface of conductive ink. Ultrasonic generation means vibrates the ink for forming fine surface waves on the liquid surface so that the ink is sprayed from the nozzle hole as an atomized liquid particle group. A back plate provided on the opposite side of the nozzle hole in relation to a printing paper is supplied with a potential different from that for the nozzle plate, so that an electric field is formed therebetween. The sprayed liquid particle group is charged and hence urged by this electric field to adhere to the printing paper.

Liquid sprayer

A nozzle ejects molten metal in an ejecting direction. The nozzle has a solder-philic surface in a first region and a solder-repellent surface in a second region. The second region is located forward of the first region in the ejecting direction. Before molten metal is ejected, the peripheral edge of the liquid surface of the molten metal is held at a position located further forward in the ejecting direction than the boundary between the solder-philic surface and the solder-repellent surface. The peripheral edge of the liquid surface is thus held before being ejected so that solder drops can be ejected steadily with a uniform diameter, constant direction, and constant speed.

Nozzle for ejecting molten metal

A noncontact transmitting apparatus includes first and second noncontact transmitting units mounted on a main device and an attachment device, respectively. The second noncontact transmitting unit is removably attachable to the first noncontact transmitting unit for enabling noncontact signal transfer between the main device and the attachment device. Each of the noncontact transmitting units includes a power coil and a signal coil. The power coil is wound on a first core to supply power from the main device to the attachment device by electromagnetic induction. The first cores of the first and second noncontact transmitting units face each other at a first position when the attachment device is loaded on the main device. The signal coil is wound on a second core for signal transfer between the main device and the attachment device by electromagnetic induction. The second cores of the first and second noncontact transmitting units face each other at a second position when the attachment device is loaded on the main device. When the attachment device is rotated about the first core by a specified angle, the signal coil of the second noncontact transmitting unit is moved from the second position. This makes it possible for the main device such as a cellular phone, and the attachment device, such as a camera, to transfer power and signals between them with a simple configuration with high reliability when the attachment device is loaded on the main device.

Noncontact transmitting apparatus

A reflector has an inlet opening toward a piezoelectric element, an outlet opening toward a nozzle plate and a reflecting wall connecting the same with each other. The nozzle plate has a nozzle located in the vicinity of the outlet. The piezoelectric element is provided with a through hole on a position opposed to the outlet, and applies ultrasonic waves to a liquid supplied into the reflector from the through hole. The ultrasonic waves are reflected by the reflecting wall and converged in the vicinity of the outlet for improving acoustic energy on this position so that the nozzle ejects droplets. Thus, the dimension in a direction perpendicular to that for ejecting the droplets is suppressed for providing a droplet ejector having a compact structure.

Droplet ejector and liquid supply tube

A liquid ejector including at least one acoustic conductor for propagating acoustic wave, the at least one acoustic conductor including a first surface which is provided with the acoustic wave from the outside and an outer surface configured to focus the acoustic wave at a focal point, and a supplying path for supplying liquid to be ejected from the outside of the acoustic conductor to the focal point.

Liquid ejector

Non-contact signal transmission apparatus provides signal transmission between a main unit and an auxiliary unit via electromagnetic induction. A set of power cores having hollow sections are provided as a pair at corresponding positions of the main unit and the auxiliary unit. A wire is wound around each of the power cores as power coils for feeding power from the main unit to the auxiliary unit. At least one set of signal cores are provided as a pair at corresponding positions of the main unit and the auxiliary unit. A wire is wound around each of signal cores as signal coils transmitting signals between the main unit and the auxiliary unit. The signal coils are arranged in hollow sections of the power cores.

Non-contact signal and power transmission apparatus

A longitudinal wave propagates in ink toward an opening. The surface of the ink is positioned at the opening and is curved. A surface wave is excited from an end of the liquid surface owing to a restoring force caused by surface tension of the ink. Assuming that the wavelength of the surface wave is &lgr;c, the diameter of the opening is established to be not smaller than 2m &lgr;c. The surface wave is generated from an edge of the opening and rapidly decreases due to the longitudinal wave. The surface waves caused by the longitudinal wave do not interfere with each other at the opening provided that certain conditions are established. Therefore, no complicated interference wave occurs on the surface of the ink, and the surface of the ink vibrates with a large amplitude in the vicinity of the edge of the opening.

Liquid jetting apparatus and electrostatic latent image developing apparatus

At a dot cycle (T3), a dummy burst signal as well as a jet burst signal are supplied for a vibration exciter to drive it so that the vibration exciter can provide liquid with a periodic radiation pressure. The dummy burst signal is so determined as to jet no droplet, with a smaller number of pulses and so on. That allows a stable motion of meniscus of ink and it is thereby possible to stably jet the droplets. With this control provided is a technique to improve a shape of an ink surface from which the droplets are created and stably jet the droplets when a liquid jet unit for jetting the droplets from a liquid surface is driven.

Liquid jet driving device and liquid jet driving method

The particle diameter of droplets is controlled without improvements on a nozzle plate. An ultrasonic wave causes a radiation pressure to be intermittently applied to an opening in a cycle having a period shorter than the fundamental vibration period of a liquid surface in the opening. A high-order standing wave is then generated at the liquid surface in the opening to cause a plurality of droplets to be emitted simultaneously. Since the plurality of droplets are simultaneously emitted from a plurality of mounds of the high-order standing wave, the droplets have a diameter smaller than the diameter of the opening and are emitted vertically upwardly. The diameter of the droplets is controlled by the order of the high-order standing wave to be generated. The order of the standing wave is increased by shortening the period for which the radiation pressure is applied to the opening.

Liquid ejector which uses a high-order ultrasonic wave to eject ink

A liquid ejector increases the density of acoustic energy to eject droplets efficiently. Acoustic waves are introduced in generally planar form from a piezoelectric transducer into a liquid ink in a reservoir and are reflected from a reflecting wall of the reservoir. The reflecting wall defines a parabola in cross section. An ejection opening is located near a focal point of the parabola, opposite the transducer. The acoustic waves focus at the ejection opening, increasing the density of the acoustic energy in the ink at the ejection opening. Thus, ink droplets are ejected efficiently from the ejection opening.

Acoustic liquid ejector and printer apparatus incorporating the ejector

A printing apparatus employs a nearly linear conveying path P2 for printing paper P from a position confronting the platen roller 6 and thermal head 7 for composing the printing unit 3 to the paper discharge unit 2. The capstan roller 4, pinch roller 5, and discharge rollers 10, 10 are disposed opposedly to the conveying path P2, and at an intermediate position of the conveying path P2 intersects the conveying path P1 from the paper supply unit 1 to the printing unit 3. A paper supply port is disposed at the bottom of the paper cassette forming the paper supply unit 1, so that the conveying path P1 from the paper supply port to the printing unit 3 is shortened, and accordingly the paper conveying path is shortened. The printer construction simplified and downsized, while the precision of positioning of the printing paper and positioning of the printing head is enhanced, so that the printing quality may be improved.

Printing apparatus

A sublime type thermal transfer printer uses an ink sheet on which a fixing agent of a sublimation ink is coated and thermally transfers the fixing agent of the ink sheet onto a plain printing paper first, then thermally transfers an image on the ink sheet onto the area of the printing paper where the fixing agent is transferred by subliming an ink coated on the ink sheet.
