The invention relates to a method, comprising tracking the gaze of an eye of a user by a first camera, wherein a position of the gaze determines a place for the cursor on the screen of a near-to-eye display (NED), wherein the movement of the gaze is configured to move the cursor on the screen and when the movement of the gaze is detected to be still or moving only slightly; observing a gesture of one hand of the user by a second camera, and executing a further operation if at least one gesture of the hand is detected. The invention further relates to an apparatus and a computer program product configured to perform the method.

Multimodal interaction with near-to-eye display

An acoustic virtual environment is processed in an electronic device. The acoustic virtual environment comprises at least one sound source (). In order to model the manner in which the sound is directed, a direction dependent filtering arrangement () is attached to the sound source, whereby the effect of the filtering arrangement on the sound depends on predetermined parameters. The directivity can depend on the frequency of the sound.

Method and system for processing directed sound in an acoustic virtual environment

Music and non-music portions in an audio stream are identified. The audio stream is digitized and segmented into frames. Selected frames are passed through a filter bank which includes filters having bandwidths approximately proportional to their center frequencies. The spectral flux for each selected frame is calculated and smoothed. Frames having a smoothed spectral flux below a threshold value are associated with music, and frames having a smoothed spectral flux above a threshold value are associated with non-music.

Automatic extraction of musical portions of an audio stream

The invention relates to a method for recognizing a melody from a set of stored melodies. In the method, an audio sample representing the melody to be recognized is produced to form a first search criterion. In the method, an audio sample is produced of at least one word related to the melody to be recognized to form a second search criterion, wherein in the recognition, a first search set is formed of the stored melodies on the basis of one said search criterion. Another said search criterion is used for recognizing the melody from said first search set.

A virtual acoustic environment comprises surfaces which reflect, absorb and transmit sound. Parametrisized filters are used to represent the surfaces, and parameters defining the transfer function of the filters are presented in order to represent the parametrisized filters.
