Method and apparatus for an enhanced beam refinement procedure in a multi-cell scenario. The apparatus receives a beam refinement configuration indicating beam measurement is restricted to a serving cell and excluded for a neighbor cell. The apparatus measures an SSB of the serving cell by sweeping multiple beams restricted based on the beam refinement configuration. Measurement of a concurrent SSB of the neighbor cell is excluded in the sweeping of the multiple beams. The apparatus identifies a refined beam for the serving cell based on the sweeping of the multiple beams.

Faster UE beam refinement in multi-cell scenario

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, relating to synchronization signal block (SSB) selection for paging occasions (POs). In an example, a UE may identifying a first SSB overlapping with or after a PO. The UE may further identify that a distance between the first SSB and the PO is less than a distance between a second SSB the PO, the second SSB located before the PO. The UE may further select the first SSB associated with loop operations based on identifying that the distance between the first SSB and the PO is less than a distance between the second SSB the PO.

Beam historical information may include information regarding a previous random access channel (RACH) procedure attempt using an antenna beam of the plurality of antenna beams, information regarding physical broadcast channel (PBCH) decode history for an antenna beam of the plurality of antenna beams, information regarding recency of a measurement of an aspect of the synchronization signal corresponding to an antenna beam of the plurality of antenna beams as received when scanning the antenna beam, etc. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

History augmented synchronization signal based antenna beam selection

Wireless communications systems and methods related to wireless communications in a system are provided. A user equipment (UE) may determine a plurality of antenna configurations for a plurality of channel frequencies. The UE may determine a set of signal strengths for at least one beam received at one or more antenna configurations of the plurality of antenna configurations for at least one of the channel frequencies. The UE may select, based on the set of signal strengths, a first antenna configuration of the plurality of antenna configurations. After selection of the first antenna configuration, the UE may communicate with a base station, in one or more channel frequencies based on the first antenna configuration.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for adapting search, measurement, and loop tracking periodicities in new radio communications. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes determining, based on one or more parameters, a first periodicity to perform a search to detect one or more component carriers (CCs), cells, beams, or a combination thereof; a second periodicity to perform measurement of one or more cells, beams, or both in one more detected CCs; and a third periodicity to perform loop tracking to monitor a downlink serving quality, an uplink serving beam quality, or both of a cell. The method may further includes performing the search at the determined first periodicity, measurement at the determined second periodicity, and loop tracking at the determined third periodicity.
