A method for fabricating a display is provided. The method includes providing a substrate having a pixel area, forming a plurality of patterned first electrodes on the pixel area, forming a plurality of partitions on both sides of the patterned first electrodes, respectively filling in spaces between the partitions with various colored material to cover the patterned first electrodes by a depositing process, and forming a cover on the partitions and the colored materials.

Method for fabricating displays, and apparatus and process for producing displays

A display module is provided, which includes a first and a second substrates, a transparent type solar cell, a display device, an electric power storage device, a driving circuit and a power supply transfer switch. In the display module, the first substrate, the transparent type solar cell, the display device and the second substrate are successively arranged according to an incident direction of a light source. The transparent type solar cell has a visible light transmittance of 10%-40% and a color temperature (Tc) larger than 2400K. The electric power storage device is connected to the transparent type solar cell for storing electric power there from, and the driving circuit is connected to the display device for driving the same. The power supply transfer switch is used for transferring the electric power into the electric power storage device or the driving circuit.

Display module

A dual display is disclosed, including a first substrate and a second substrate comprising a plurality of pixels, wherein each pixel comprises a plurality of subpixels. The first substrate comprises a reflective region and a transmissive region for each subpixel, and a first color fluid is movable by an electric field on the reflective region and the transmissive region of a first subpixel, wherein when the first color fluid covers the transmissive region, the dual display provides a first viewing side at the first substrate side under a transmissive mode, and when the first color fluid covers the reflective region or covers the reflective region and the transmissive region, the dual display provides a second viewing side at the second substrate side under a reflective mode.

Dual display

Single-layered color cholesteric liquid crystal display devices and fabrication methods thereof are provided. The color cholesteric liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate structure having a base and periodic protrusion banks. A second substrate structure is disposed opposite the first substrate structure to enclose the periodic protrusion banks, and divide a plurality of color sub-pixel channels. A plurality of color cholesteric liquid crystals are respectfully filled in each of the color sub-pixel channel, wherein the base and the periodic protrusion banks are made of continuously integral material.

Color cholesteric liquid crystal display devices and fabrication methods thereof

Color cholesteric liquid crystal display devices and driving methods thereof are provided. A color cholesteric liquid crystal display device includes a color cholesteric liquid crystal display panel with a plurality of sub-pixels. A driving module exerts a first voltage on a portion of sub-pixels of the color cholesteric liquid crystal display panel to hold displaying states of the biased sub-pixels. An input element exerts pressure on the color cholesteric liquid crystal display panel to change displaying states of the unbiased sub-pixels.

Color cholesteric liquid crystal display devices and driving methods thereof

Bi-stable display systems and driving methods thereof are presented. The bi-stable display system includes a bi-stable display panel having at least one substrate, at least one electrode disposed on the substrate, and a bi-stable display medium between the at least one electrode, wherein the at least one electrode extends to pluralities of electrode pads on the at least one side of peripheral regions. A data input device for inputting display data to the bi-stable display panel includes a plurality of input terminals corresponding to the electrode pads of the bi-stable display panel. A trigger device detects relative movement between the bi-stable display panel and the data input device and generates a trigging signal to shift data address in a data shifter, thereby renewing image data in the bi-stable display panel.

Bi-stable display systems and driving methods thereof

Electrowetting devices (EWD) are presented. The electrowetting device includes a first substrate and an opposing second substrate with a polar fluid layer and a non-polar fluid layer interposed therebetween. A first transparent electrode is disposed on the first substrate. A second electrode is disposed on the second substrate. A first partition structure is disposed on the first substrate; thereby defining a plurality of color sub-pixels. A dye and/or a pigment substance is doped in one of the polar fluid layer and the non-polar fluid layer. A luminescence substance is doped in one of the polar fluid layer and the non-polar fluid layer. An emission module (also known as an excitation module) is disposed underlying the bottom of the first substrate. The colors of the non-polar fluid layer in the neighboring sub-pixels are different.

Electrowetting display devices

A dual display is disclosed, including a first electrowetting display device and a second electrowetting display device, and a reflection transmission switching device therebetween, wherein the first electrowetting display device and the second electrowetting display device have a function of displaying images and can be switched to a transmissive mode. The invention further provides a dual display, comprising a first substrate, a second substrate opposite the first substrate, a first patterned electrode and a second patterned electrode disposed on the first substrate, a reflective layer disposed on the first patterned electrode, a first patterned hydrophobic layer over the first patterned electrode, a second patterned hydrophobic layer over the second patterned electrode, a wall defining a pixel of the dual display, a first non-polar liquid disposed on the first patterned hydrophobic layer, and a second non-polar liquid disposed on the second patterned hydrophobic layer.

A light valve unit may include a first conductive layer and a second conductive layer disposed on opposite sides of each other with respect to a plurality of cells in which at least some of the cells include a first material and a second material. The first material may have a lower light transmissivity property than the second material and a position of the first material within a corresponding cell may be changeable responsive to application of an electric field between the first and second conductive layers. The second conductive layer may include at least two electrodes and a gap defined between the two electrodes. A portion of the light valve unit adjacent to the gap may be configured to have a transmissivity that is substantially less than transmissivity of a portion of the light valve unit adjacent to cells across which the electric field is applied, but greater than or equal to transmissivity of a portion of the light valve unit adjacent to cells across which the electric field is not applied.

Display device for improving image contrast

A display and fabricating method thereof is provided. The display includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a hydrophobic layer, a nonpolar liquid layer, a hydrophilic separator, a polar liquid layer, and a protruding spacer. The first and second substrates respectively include an opposing surface, and are disposed in a way that the opposing surfaces are face-to-face opposing to each other. The hydrophobic layer overlies the opposing surface of the second substrate. The nonpolar liquid layer overlies the hydrophobic layer. The hydrophilic separator overlies the hydrophobic layer and surrounds the nonpolar liquid layer. The polar liquid layer overlies the nonpolar liquid layer. The protruding spacer is disposed between the hydrophilic separator and the first substrate.

Display and fabricating method thereof

A three-dimensional display device including a display panel and a modulatable electrowetting grating is provided. The display panel has a plurality of pixels. The modulatable electrowetting grating is disposed on the display panel, and has a plurality of electrowetting light valves corresponding to the pixels.

Three-dimensional display device

A system for inspecting a flexible device is provided, which is used for performing a performance inspection on a flexible device in a bending state, or after the flexible device has finished bending test so as to obtain a mechanical reliability. The inspecting system includes: at least one bending unit with at least one curvature; a conveyor unit used for conveying the flexible device so that a portion of the flexible device is passed through the bending unit and is bent into a bending portion; an inspecting unit performs a performance inspection on the flexible device. The performance inspection includes electrical, optical, or opto-electric inspection, and an inspection result can be recorded, displayed or both. The inspected flexible devices may be a flexible display device with complete or incomplete electrode thereon. In addition, a method for inspecting a flexible device is also provided.

Method and system for inspecting flexible device

The invention provides a method for fabricating reflection-type light diffuser which is a substrate having a plurality of bumpy elements with reflective curved surfaces. Each of the plurality of bumpy elements having a first surface and a second surface, the first angle (&agr; or &thgr;) between the first surface and the substrate is different from the second angle (&bgr; or &phgr;) between the second surface and the substrate. A Multi-Exposure Shift Method along with specially designed masks are proposed for manufacturing the curved reflective elements in the present invention. The invention can also be used in a traditional TFT-LCD, with the diffusive film layer eliminated, as an element between the liquid crystal layer and the active matrix.

Method for reforming a reflection-type light diffuser

The invention provides a method for fabricating reflection-type light diffuser which is a substrate having a plurality of bumpy elements with reflective curved surfaces. Each of the plurality of bumpy elements having a first surface and a second surface, the first angle (.alpha. or .theta.) between the first surface and the substrate is different from the second angle (.beta. or .phi.) between the second surface and the substrate. A Multi-Exposure Shift Method along with specially designed masks are proposed for manufacturing the curved reflective elements in the present invention. The invention can also be used in a traditional TFT-LCD, with the diffusive film layer eliminated, as an element between the liquid crystal layer and the active matrix.
