A method of reducing corrosion, including coating a surface of a substrate with a corrosion inhibitor to form a coated substrate, and contacting the coated substrate with a corrosive medium, wherein the coated substrate in the corrosive medium has an iof less than 0.01 μA cm. The corrosion inhibitor includes polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), and a layered double hydroxide (LDH) having a formula of XAl, wherein X is Mg or Zn.

A fabrication method for a flexible bifacial dye-sensitized solar cell is described. The method involves forming a flexible counter electrode of crystalline Pt nanoparticles on a first conductive layer by irradiating a precursor solution with a UV lamp. A flexible photoanode is formed by applying metal oxide particles to a second conductive layer, and then the solar cell is constructed by sandwiching an electrolyte between the counter electrode and photoanode.

A semiconducting nanocomposite and a dye-sensitized solar cell including the same, wherein the semiconducting nanocomposite comprises nanocomposite particles selected from the group consisting of TiO/ZnO/CdS, TiO/ZnO/CdSe, TiO/ZnO/PbS, TiO/ZnO/PbSe, TiO/ZnS/CdSe, TiO/ZnS/PbS, TiO/ZnS/PbSe, WO/ZnO/CdSe, NbO/ZnO/CdSe, and combinations thereof. Various embodiments of each component of the dye-sensitized solar cell, including electrodes, conductive layers, dyes, and electrolytes are also provided.
