A gas measuring device () and a gas measuring process measure a concentration of a combustible target gas (CH). A detector (), having a detector heating segment (), oxidizes combustible target gas. A compensator () having a compensator heating segment () oxidizes less or no target gas. A temperature sensor () measures the ambient temperature. A first detection variable (ΔU_B) depends on the detector temperature, a second detection variable (U) depends on the compensator temperature. An evaluation unit () applies a first and a second functional relationship in order to determine, depending on the two detection variables (ΔU_B, U), both the target gas concentration and a further environmental condition, particularly the ambient humidity. The second functional relationship, a dependence between the further environmental condition on the one hand and the detection variables and the ambient temperature on the other hand, is valid if no target gas is present.

A gas detection device and a process monitor an area for a combustible target gas. A heating segment of a detector () is heated when electrical current flows therethrough. A heating segment of a compensator () is heated when electrical current flows therethrough. An electrical voltage is applied to both the detector and the compensator. The heating of the detector () causes a combustible target gas to be oxidized in an interior of the gas detection device. A detection variable, which depends on the temperature (Temp_) of the detector, and a detection variable, which depends on the temperature (Temp_) of the compensator, are measured. A presence and/or a concentration of a target gas are determined as a function of the detection variables. A quality parameter is measured and increases as the detection variable depending on the detector temperature increases and as the detection variable depending on the compensator temperature decreases.

A heat tone sensor includes a housing with a gas inlet and with a gas outlet as well as a device for generating a gas stream of a gas to be tested between the gas inlet and the gas outlet. A measuring element, around and/or through which the gas stream flows, is configured to catalytically burn at least a portion of the gas stream and to send a measurement signal. The measurement signal indicates a quantity of heat released in the process.

A gas sensorincludes a housingand with a measuring element. The measuring elementhas a heating coil, which is coated with a catalytically active or inactive ceramic. The ceramiccontains a fibrous material. The fibrous material may be, for example, a glass fiber material.

A filter material is for the selective removal of siloxanes from a gas. The filter material contains a titanium compound, which is an organotitanate and/or a compound, which can be obtained by hydrolysis of an organotitanate. A method for the production of the filter material is also provided to use the filter material for the selective removal of siloxanes from a gas. A gas sensor is provided which includes the filter material.

A gas sensor is provided for use in a hazardous explosive atmosphere present continuously or for a long time. The gas sensor is not provided with a pressure-proof housing and is provided with at least one catalytic or semiconductor measuring element () in a hollow body () defining the measuring element () against the environment. The hollow body has breathing openings () and wherein the ratio of the area of the breathing openings to the total area of the hollow body equals, furthermore, at most 0.8 or the hollow body is porous with a porous hollow body material having a pore size according to ISO 4003 equal to at most 2 mm.
