A lighting system and a method of operating a lighting module are described. The lighting module includes a heat sink a first LED element mounted on the heat sink emits light as a low beam pattern. A second LED element mounted on the heat sink emits light as a high beam pattern. A driver circuit electrically connected to the first and second LED elements to selectively supply electrical power for operation. The driver circuit is disposed to operate in a first and a second mode. In the first mode, to provide a low beam illumination, the first LED element is operated in a high power state while the second LED element is turned off. In the second mode, to provide a high beam illumination, the second LED element is operated in a high power state, while the first LED element is operated in a dimmed state.

Operating a lighting module with LED elements

A circuit board, a light-emitting diode (LED) retrofit lamp for use with the circuit board and a method of manufacturing an LED retrofit lamp are described herein. A circuit board includes a body part and two longitudinal fingers symmetrically extending from the body part in a longitudinal direction of the LED retrofit lamp.

A lighting device includes a flexible housing, at least two light emitting elements, and at least one mounting member. The flexible housing extends along a length direction of the lighting device and has an inner surface configured to reflect light. The at least two light emitting elements are arranged along the length direction of the lighting device and are mounted to the flexible housing. The at least one mounting member is an integral component of the flexible housing and extends continuously along the length direction of the lighting device. The at least one mounting member includes a base section and a sequence of mounting sections. At least two of the mounting sections are separated from each other by a recess. The sequence of mounting sections extends from the base section of the at least one mounting member.

The invention describes a LED lighting unit comprising a heatsink; an LED module mounted onto the heatsink, which LED module comprises a carrier, a number of LED dies mounted on the carrier, and LED electrode contacts formed on the carrier; an overmould formed to encase the heatsink and to expose the mounting surface region of the heatsink upon which the LED module is mounted; and an electrical interface also encased in the overmould and arranged to electrically connect the LED module to a power supply. The invention further describes a method of manufacturing such an LED lighting unit.

The invention describes an LED lighting assembly comprising a reflector unit comprising a number of reflector regions; an LED carrier realized to support at least one LED arrangement; and at least one positioning feature for positioning the LED carrier relative to the reflector unit, wherein a positioning feature is arranged in the same plane as the optical center of the LED arrangement. The invention further describes a method of manufacturing such an LED lighting assembly.

LED lighting assembly

A lighting arrangement with an exchangeable lighting cap, includes a holder for the lighting cap and a lock lever to lock the lighting cap in position on the holder. The front face of the lighting caps has at least one light emitting element, for emitting light in a direction perpendicular to the front face. The edge of the front face has two positioning slots that are perpendicular to the direction of illumination. The holder comprises an opening for receiving the front face and has two positioning elements arranged at a rim of the opening, wherein the positioning elements can be inserted into the positioning slots of the lighting cap by elastic deformation to fix the position of the lighting cap on the holder. The lock lever has an open position for inserting the lighting cap into the holder and a locked position for locking the lighting cap in position.

Lighting arrangement with an exchangeable lighting cap

A lighting module comprises a heat sink with a body portion and a protrusion portion protruding from the body portion into a forward direction. An LED element is mounted on a mounting surface of the protrusion portion. The mounting surface is arranged facing partially backwards and forming an angle of 5-45&#xb0; to the forward direction. An electrical plug connector is provided within the body portion's cavity and is electrically connected to the LED element. In the lighting system, a reflector assembly comprises a concave reflector with an inner reflector space. A lighting module is arranged such that its protrusion portion projects into the inner reflector space. Light emitted from the LED element is reflected by the reflector. The body portion is arranged outside of the reflector space. The lighting module may be replaced by separating the lighting module from the reflector assembly and providing a new lighting module.
