The invention relates to a computer system for a motor vehicle, having a processor apparatus with a plurality of real processor cores in the form of circuits, a plurality of virtual machines, each of which in each case has at least one virtual processor core for executing software programs, a hypervisor apparatus that is designed to run the virtual machines simultaneously on the processor apparatus and, for this purpose, to exclusively assign the real processor cores to the virtual machines in accordance with a predetermined assignment scheme. The invention makes provision for the hypervisor apparatus to contain a hypervisor scheduler which provides, in addition to the assignment scheme, at least one further assignment scheme which provides, a further exclusive assignment of the real processor cores to the virtual machines, and for the hypervisor scheduler to be designed to switch between the assignment schemes on the basis of a demand signal.
