An end-cap assembly for closing one end of a housing of a filter comprises an end-cap having an end wall; an inlet port extending through the end wall for connection to a first end of a pump hose of a peristaltic pump; and a first holder for securing a second end of the pump hose. The inlet port and the first holder are arranged relative to each other so that the pump hose forms a loop when the first end of the pump hose is connected to the inlet port and the second end of the pump hose is secured by the holder.

An integrated blood treatment module comprises a blood treatment device () having a housing () and a first end-cap () and a second end-cap () closing both ends of the housing (). A pump hose () for a peristaltic pump has a first end () that is secured to the housing () and a second end () that is connected to a blood inlet port () of the first end-cap () so as to form a loop. A degassing device () is connected to the second end-cap (). The degassing device (), which, in use, is full of liquid, comprises a hydrophobic membrane through which bubbles and micro-bubbles escape the degassing device.

A fluid distribution module () for causing and monitoring the circulation of fluids from and to a patient through an extracorporeal blood treatment device, comprises a degassing device () connected to a connecting structure (). The degassing device () comprises a first chamber () having a lower inlet () for a liquid and a second chamber () having an upper opening () closed by a hydrophobic membrane () and an outlet () for discharging the liquid. The connecting structure () has at least a first and a second conduits () defined therein, wherein the first conduit () comprises a first end for connection to a discharge tube () from the treatment device and a second end connected to the inlet () of the first chamber () of the degassing device (), and the second conduit () comprises a first end connected to the outlet () of the second chamber () of the degassing device () and a second end for connection to a blood return tube () to a patient.

A degassing device () comprises a first chamber () having an inlet for a liquid, and a second chamber () having an opening () closed by a hydrophobic membrane () and an outlet () for discharging the liquid. A method for manufacturing a filter device having filter means, in particular hollow-fibre membranes, arranged in more than one filtration compartment within a filter housing. For example a dialysis type filtration process such as haemofiltration or haemodiafiltration or haemodialysis may be carried out at the same time as an ultrafiltration process or as another haemofiltration, haemodiafiltration or haemodialysis process. A split shell is bonded or welded together along longitudinal seams. Internal separating walls within the housing are formed integrally with the shell portions of the housing to form adjacent filtration compartments when the housing portions are joined together.

Method for making a filter device having more than one filtration compartment

The invention relates to a filter comprising membranes made of hollow fibers in which the hollow fibers are arranged as a bundle in a tubular housing. The housing comprises an end cap on each of its ends, whereby the hollow fiber bundle is placed between the ends of the housing. The ends of the hollow fiber bundle each comprise a support ring that surrounds the same and are cast inside said support ring. The support rings are displaceably mounted in the housing in order to compensate for, among other things, axial contractions of the hollow fiber bundle occurring during heat sterilization.

Methods and apparatus are disclosed for producing hollow fiber membrane-containing filters. The methods include laying a plurality of hollow fibers in a first portion of a filter housing to form a bundle, forming first and second portions into a filter housing, sealing the portions together, connecting the plurality of hollow fibers together at at least one end of the filter housing, connecting the hollow fibers to the filter housing, and simultaneously adhering the first and second portions of the filter housing together by applying a potting compound thereto, and cutting the ends of the hollow fibers at at least one end thereof, whereby the hollow fibers include open ends.
