There is provided an apparatus for navigating a pedestrian tour including a processor circuit, a memory and a screen. The pedestrian tour includes a starting point, a first pedestrian tour zone and a second pedestrian tour zone, all of which are connected by a series of connecting paths. First and second suggested travel constraints, corresponding respectively with the first and second pedestrian tour zones, are stored in the memory. Responsive to determining that the pedestrian's actual travel within the first pedestrian tour zone will vary from the first suggested travel constraint, the processor circuit dynamically revises the second suggested travel constraint to permit the pedestrian user to execute the pedestrian tour in accordance with a preset target travel constraint for the pedestrian tour. There is also provided a hybrid navigation method in which the processor circuit is used to operatively associate at least one of the pedestrian tour zones with a first guidance system and at least one of the connecting paths with a second guidance system. The first guidance system provides the pedestrian user with minimal or no navigation information when the pedestrian user is using the at least one pedestrian tour zone and the second guidance system provides the pedestrian with detailed geographic map instructions when the pedestrian user is using one of the connecting paths.

Apparatus and method for hybrid navigation of a pedestrian tour

A method and system that provides navigational related audio or haptic feedback to a user traversing a route by mapping an initial route for a user to traverse, the initial route having paths and intersections; determining a current location of the user; inputting a route characteristic change of the initial route; determining possible paths associated with an intersection for the user to traverse when the current location of the user is within the predetermined distance of the intersection; ranking the determined possible paths based upon the initial route and the inputted route characteristic change; determining the head direction of the user when the current location of the user is within the predetermined distance of an intersection; determining which of the possible paths corresponds to the calculated head direction of the user; and providing an audio/haptic cue to the user based upon the ranking of the determined possible path corresponding to the determined head direction of the user.

Generating a pedestrian tour includes: receiving a query from a user device via a network, the query indicative of a request for a pedestrian tour and including a location and preferences including a target length for the pedestrian tour; obtaining a graph of a geographical area around the location of the user device, the graph including nodes indicative of path crossings and arcs indicative of paths connecting pairs of the nodes; determining scores for the arcs based on characteristics of the arcs, respectively, and the preferences; selecting connecting ones of the arcs based on the scores of the connecting ones of the arcs, lengths of the selected connecting ones of the arcs, and the target length; adding the selected connecting ones of the arcs to the pedestrian tour to initialize the pedestrian tour; and transmitting the pedestrian tour to the user device via the network for display.

Methods, systems, and computer-readable media for digital document management. A physical context can be identified, wherein such a physical context includes three dimensions of data. One or more digital documents can be automatically linked to the physical context, after identifying the physical context. Constraints can then be combined, which are derived from the three dimensions of data, allow particular actions with respect to the digital document(s). The three dimensions of data include, for example, data indicative of location, time, and a social component (e.g., people present at a location). Actions with respect to the digital document can include, for example: an allowed action, a restricted action, or a prohibited action (e.g., read/write).

A method for planning a transportation service includes sending transportation proposal to a plurality of organizations. The proposal includes one or more initial options, each including a set of variable parameters. Each organization can generate a modified option and make a commitment conditional on selected ones of the parameters. Each organization sends respective modified options to commuters of that organization who may specify their own pledges for at least one of the modified options, conditional on the organization-selected values for the variable parameters and optionally on commuter-selected values for the variable parameters. A cost-benefit function is computed for each of a set of revised options for the transportation service, each of the revised options being based on a combination of the variable parameters for which pledges which cover the combination have been received and one or more of the revised options is identified, based on the computed cost-benefit function.

A method and system for managing print jobs is disclosed. A received print job is compared with pending print jobs and executed print jobs, wherein the pending print jobs and the executed print jobs are stored in one or more print queues associated with one or more printing systems. Disclosed is a method and system of differential processing a print job including one or more original documents to render an obfuscated version of the print job. According to an exemplary method, the differential process replaces letters of an original document with randomly selected characters of substantially the same size and location as the original document and objects such as images/graphics are replaced with blurred versions of substantially the same size and locations as the objects in the original document. The differential process creates an obfuscated version of the print job which is illegible and useful for further processing where privacy of documents included in the print job is required.

A computer-implemented method for identifying constraints to reducing consumable usage includes acquiring print job information for a set of print jobs submitted for printing by a set of users. A print job representation is computed for each of the print jobs based on features extracted from the print job information. Provision is made for user-annotation of the submitted print jobs with a task category and a constraint category. Each of a plurality of task categories represents a respective task with which the printing of a print job is associated. Each of a plurality of selectable constraint categories expresses a different reason for printing the print job. User-annotations are received for at least some of the submitted print jobs. The print jobs are clustered into clusters based on the print job representations and task category annotations. A representation of the set of print jobs is generated which represents reasons for printing of print jobs in at least one of the clusters, based on the users' constraint category annotations.

A guided natural language interface, a method for guiding a user in specifying a color problem with a document image, and a set of templates for use in the interface and method are provided. The interface includes computer readable memory which stores a set of issue description templates, each template being configured for guiding a user in formulating a problem statement characterizing, in natural language, a problem related to color identified in an input document. A natural rendering engine receives information input by a user and/or information input from an associated problem detector, and instantiates one of the templates in response thereto. A job request, such as a print job request, is received from one of the users.
