Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media for using certificate injection tasks to generate containers having corresponding digital certificates. One of the methods includes receiving, by the distributed computing system, a source container image. A certificate injection task is executed, including: launching a container instance from the source container image and executing injection code within an execution environment of the launched container instance that writes one or more digital certificates to one or more corresponding locations within a file system of the execution environment. An output container image having the one or more digital certificates is then generated.

One of the methods includes receiving, by a pipeline controller, a job identifying a pipeline for executing a plurality of tasks. A preparatory task is invoked for the pipeline that obtains one or more original task definitions for the identified pipeline and generates one or more modified task definitions for the pipeline, wherein each modified task definition references one or more variablized secret names specified as the value of the reserved variable of the one or more configuration files. One or more subsequent execution tasks are invoked using each respective modified task definition. One or more retrieved secrets are injected into an execution environment for each particular execution task.

A notification service retrieves a copy of a deployed application package from the cloud-based deployment platform, and determines libraries of the application package. The notification service can then determine security vulnerabilities in the libraries, and provide notifications on the vulnerabilities of the application package to a user or developer.

A notification service retrieves a copy of a deployed application package and metadata associated with the application package from the cloud-based deployment platform, and identifies libraries of the application package. The notification service can then determine which, if any, libraries are or will become out-of-date, and obtain license information about the libraries. The notification service can provide notifications of any outdated components and on license compatibilities or incompatibilities. The notification service can automatically restage the application package, or update the license, upon finding outdated components or license incompatibilities.
