In at least one illustrative embodiment, a cordless power tool battery may comprise a housing, a power storage unit, a first release button, and a second release button. The housing may have a first side wall and a second side wall spaced apart from the first side wall. The first release button may be coupled to the housing and extend along more than half of the first side wall of the housing. The second release button may be coupled to the housing and extend along more than half the second side wall of the housing.

Devices with non-binding linear slides include: (a) a device body and first and second spaced apart linear rails held in the device body; (b) first and second spaced apart (rail) pathways held in cooperating alignment with the rails in the body, a respective one engaged with a respective one of the first and second linear rails that define spaced apart contact points; and (c) a translating actuation (e.g., input) member held by the body in communication with the rails. The actuation (e.g., input) member has a configuration that can generate off-center loads associated with forces applied at different positions of the actuation (e.g., input) member. Only one pathway and rail pair guides linear movement for the first and second force positions to thereby inhibit frictional binding.

Battery packs include a battery pack housing, at least one battery release member held by the battery housing, a (blind) latch held by the battery pack housing in communication with the battery release member that releaseably locks the battery pack to a device, and a tactile feedback mechanism that is held by the battery pack housing and is in communication with the battery release member. The tactile feedback mechanism generates a tactile feedback that reduces or increases an application force required by a user to manually actuate the at least one release member. The tactile feedback transmitted through the at least one battery release member. The tactile feedback is generated when the at least one release member has been manually actuated by the user a sufficient distance to allow the user to easily remove the battery pack from the device.

Battery cell carriers that have a semi-rigid elastomeric cell carrier body with a plurality of closely spaced apart, substantially parallel and substantially cylindrical channels. Each channel has a length, with neighboring channels sharing a sidewall therebetween. The channels are configured to hold at least a major portion of a length of a respective battery cell.

A power tool includes a motor having an outwardly extending rotor that defines a drive axis, a housing surrounding the motor, and a gearcase that includes a drive train coupled to the rotor and configured to drive a tool output. The gearcase includes a proximal end and an opposite distal end that is exposed to the outside of the tool forward of the housing. The gearcase includes respective locking elements spaced around the periphery of the gearcase proximal end. A motor mount includes spaced apart locking elements that are configured to engage with respective gearcase locking elements. The proximal end portion of the gearcase is adapted to make contact with the motor mount between the locking elements and then rotate such that the gearcase locking elements engage the motor mount locking elements.
