An arc prevention system including a jack having a receptacle, a modular connector sized to be positioned in the receptacle of the jack, the modular connector including a plurality of contacts, with at least two of the contacts creating an energized electrical path with an external power source in electrical communication with the external power source, a latch extending from a top surface of the modular connector, a switching unit positioned on the latch, a plug unit positioned between the latch and the jack that prevents the modular connector from moving out of the receptacle, a control circuit in electrical communication with switch and the at least two energized contacts, where the electrical path between the control circuit and the switching unit is energized when the plug engages the switching unit on the latch, and the control circuit adjusts the energized electrical path to a predetermined electrical level.

A method of manufacturing a high speed jack, the method including the steps of forming a housing including a port for accepting a plug, the port including a plurality of pins each connected to a corresponding signal line in the plug, forming a shielding case surrounding the housing, forming a top layer of a substrate, a first shielding layer on a first side of the top layer in the substrate, a second shielding layer adjacent the first shielding layer in the substrate, and forming a bottom layer adjacent to the second shielding layer, forming a plurality of first vias extending through the substrate with each first via being configured to accommodate a pin on the housing, forming a plurality of second vias extending through the substrate with each second via being configured to accommodate a pin on the housing.

High speed grounded communication jack

A method and apparatus provide for a physically small, simple, and inexpensive securing of a conventional RJ45 or similar plug into a conventional jack. A tab lock is configured to slide forward and backward along the plug, wherein when the tab lock is slid forward, a distally extending tongue reaches underneath a release lever to hinder the bending of the release lever. In this way a latch coupled to the release lever is prevented from un-latching with a corresponding latch in the jack. When the tab lock slides backward the tongue is removed from underneath the release lever and the plug may be removed from the jack. The tab lock further provides for visual identification of a particular plug.

Method and apparatus for locking a network cable in a jack

Modular plugs and jacks connect data signal transmission cables to computer components are provided with cross-talk reducing members surrounding or between parallel or near parallel sections of conductors in the plugs and jacks. Each cross-talk reducing member includes a dielectric body surrounding an irregular three dimensional conductive lattice made of a plurality of straight conductive carbon fiber rods. The lattice reduces cross-talk between signal conductors in the plugs and jacks.

High speed modular connector

A high speed lock cross talk modular jack for mating with a plug mounted on the end of a data transmission cable having four pairs of twisted conductors includes wire contacts having cantilever ends extending into a plug recess and contact pins extending below the plug body. Intermediate portions of the wire contacts extending from the cantilever ends to the pins are spread and angled outwardly and the intermediate portions of the center wire contacts cross over each other to reverse the positions of the pins for these contacts.

High speed modular jack

A modular plug and multi-pair cable assembly provides reduced near-end crosstalk between two signal pairs of the cable. A modular plug has a plurality of wire-receiving passages disposed in first and second planar arrays spaced one above the other, with the passages of one planar array being staggered in position with respect to the passages of the other planar array. An end of a first wire of each of two signal pairs is received in respective wire-receiving passages of the first planar array and an end of a second wire of the two signal pairs is received in respective wire-receiving passages of the second planar array. A first pair plane in which the wire ends of the first signal pair are situated intersects a second pair plane in which the wire ends of the second signal pair are situated. In this manner crosstalk between the two signal pairs resulting from magnetic and electric field coupling is reduced.
