Disclosed herein, among other things, are systems and methods for cancelling interference from a telecoil signal for ear-wearable devices. A method includes receiving a signal from a telecoil of a hearing device, and using a trigger signal to initiate recordings of segments of the telecoil signal. An interference component is isolated from the telecoil signal using the recorded segments. The interference component is inverted and added to the telecoil signal to cancel the interference component from the telecoil signal, and audio from the telecoil signal is provided to a wearer of the hearing device.

Various embodiments of a predictive fall event management system and a method of using such system are disclosed. The system includes a body-worn device and a controller operatively connected to the body-worn device. The controller is adapted to receive physiological data representative of a physiological characteristic of a wearer of the body-worn device over a monitoring time period; receive contextual data representative of context information of the wearer over the monitoring time period; and determine one or more future physiological states or contextual states based at least in part on one or more of the physiological data and the contextual data. The controller is further adapted to determine, for a future time, whether a fall condition is satisfied based upon the one or more future physiological states or contextual states and generate a fall prevention output responsive to satisfaction of the fall condition.

Predictive fall event management system and method of using same

Disclosed herein, among other things, are systems and methods for removing periodic interference from a telecoil signal for ear-wearable devices. A method includes receiving a signal from a telecoil of a hearing device, and determining a base period of periodic interference present in the signal. The signal is divided into clip samples having a clip length based on the base period, and the clip samples are used to create an averaged clip of the periodic interference. The averaged clip of periodic interference is inverted and summed with the signal to cancel the periodic interference from the signal, and audio from the summed signal is played for a wearer of the hearing device.

Embodiments herein relate to ear-wearable systems and devices that can detect migraine headaches. In an embodiment, an ear-wearable device is included having a control circuit, a microphone, and a sensor package. The ear-wearable device can be configured to evaluate at least one of signals from the microphone, signals from the sensor package, signals from an external sensor, and contextual factor data, and detect a migraine headache based on the evaluation. In an embodiment, an ear-wearable device system is included having a first ear-wearable device and a second ear-wearable device. Ear-wearable devices and methods for migraine detection

A hearing assistance device adapted to be worn by a wearer comprises a processor configured to generate a sequence of audio cues that audibly guide the wearer through a series of actions involving the wearer's head and neck in accordance with a predetermined corrective or therapeutic maneuver. A speaker is configured to play back the sequence of audio cues for reception by the wearer. One or more sensors are configured to sense movement of the head during each of the actions. The processor is configured to determine if head movement for an action associated with each audio cue has been correctly executed by the wearer, and produce an output indicative of successful or unsuccessful execution of the actions by the wearer.

Hearing assistance device incorporating virtual audio interface for therapy guidance

Embodiments herein relate to ear-wearable devices and systems that can detect a risk of infection in a device wearer. In a first aspect, an ear-wearable infection sensor device is included having a control circuit, a microphone, a sensor package, and an electroacoustic transducer, wherein the electroacoustic transducer is in electrical communication with the control circuit. The ear-wearable infection sensor device can be configured to analyze data from the sensor package to determine physiological parameters of a device wearer and evaluate the physiological parameters to detect the risk of an infection. Embodiments herein relate to a local assistant system responding to voice input using an ear-wearable device. The system detects a wake-up signal and receives a first voice input communicating a first query content. The system includes speech recognition circuitry to determine the first query content, speech generation circuitry, and an input database of locally-handled user inputs. If the first audio input matches one of the locally-handled user inputs, then the system takes a local responsive action. If the first audio input does not match one of the locally-handled user inputs, then the system transmits at least a portion of the first query content over a wireless network to a network resource.

In an embodiment, a method of preventing or mitigating motion sickness in a subject is included, the method tracking motion of the subject using a first motion sensor; estimating a vestibular system input based on tracked motion of the subject; tracking head position of the subject using the first motion sensor; estimating a visual system input based on tracked head position of the subject; estimating consistency between the vestibular system input and the visual system input; and initiating a responsive measure if the estimated consistency crosses a threshold value. The system includes a hearing device for a user, a sensor operatively connected to the hearing device and adapted to detect a characteristic of the user and generate a sensor signal based on the characteristic, an accessory operatively connected to the hearing device, and a controller operatively connected to the hearing device. The controller is adapted to determine a fall risk value based on the sensor signal, compare the fall risk value to a fall risk threshold, and generate a fall prevention output if the fall risk value exceeds the fall risk threshold.

Various embodiments of a beacon that can be utilized with a fall prediction system and a method of utilizing such system are disclosed. The fall prediction system includes a head-worn device for a user, a beacon adapted to detect a hazard and generate a beacon signal based on the detected hazard, and a controller operatively connected to the head-worn device and the beacon. The controller is adapted to determine a fall risk value based on the beacon signal. At least one of the beacon and the controller are further adapted to transmit the beacon signal to the user.

Various embodiments of a hearing device and a method of using such device are disclosed. The hearing device includes a housing having an inner surface and an outer surface, electronic components disposed within the housing, and a port disposed in the housing and extending between a first end at the outer surface of the housing and a second end disposed within the housing, where the port is acoustically connected to at least one of a speaker or a microphone of the electronic components. The hearing components also include a controller that is electrically connected to a sensor and that is adapted to detect a change in capacitance of the sensor, where the change in capacitance is associated with debris at least partially occluding the port.

A hearing device comprises a processor operatively coupled to memory, a speaker or a receiver, and one or both of a microphone arrangement and a telecoil arrangement. A sensor is operatively coupled to the processor and configured to sense an angular position of the device relative to a horizontal plane oriented orthogonal to a direction of gravity. The processor is configured to detect a change in the angular position of the device from a first angular position to a second angular position, the first angular position corresponding to a specified angular position that provides for a target or optimal level of device performance and the second angular position resulting in suboptimal device performance. Embodiments herein relate to devices and related systems and methods for detecting falls. In an embodiment, a hearing assistance device is included having a first control circuit and a first motion sensor. The first motion sensor can be disposed in a fixed position relative to a head of a subject wearing the hearing assistance device. A first microphone and a first transducer for generating sound can be in operational communication with the first control circuit. The first control circuit can be configured to evaluate data from one or more sensors to detect a possible fall of a subject in physical contact with the hearing assistance device. The device can be configured to wirelessly transmit data regarding a possible fall to another device including an indication of whether the possible fall was detected binaurally or monoaurally.
