An example lidar system includes a housing defining an interior space. The housing includes at least one optical window. The lidar system also includes a rotatable mirror assembly disposed within the interior space. The rotatable mirror assembly includes a transmit mirror portion and a receive mirror portion. The lidar system additionally includes a transmitter disposed within the interior space. The transmitter is configured to emit emission light into an environment of the lidar system along a transmit path. The lidar system also includes a receiver disposed within the interior space. The receiver is configured to detect return light that is received from the environment along a receive path. The lidar system additionally includes at least one optical baffle configured to minimize stray light in the interior space.

Example embodiments relate to a sensor unit with rotating housing and spoiler for enhanced airflow. An example device includes one or more sensors configured to sense one or more aspects of an environment surrounding the device. The device also includes a housing that at least partially surrounds the one or more sensors. The housing and the one or more sensors are configured to rotate about a shared axis. The housing includes an inlet configured to act as an air intake for an airflow through the housing. The airflow is configured to cool the one or more sensors while the one or more sensors are operating. Further, the device includes a spoiler positioned on or near the inlet. The spoiler is configured to increase an air pressure near the inlet or promote laminar flow near the inlet in order to promote the airflow through the housing.

Example embodiments relate to light detection and ranging (lidar) devices having a light-guide manifold. An example lidar device includes a transmit subsystem. The transmit subsystem includes a light emitter. The transmit subsystem also includes a light-guide manifold optically coupled to the light emitter. Further, the transmit subsystem includes a telecentric lens assembly optically coupled to the light-guide manifold. The lidar device also includes a receive subsystem. The receive subsystem includes the telecentric lens assembly. The receive subsystem also includes an aperture plate having an aperture defined therein. The aperture plate is positioned at a focal plane of the telecentric lens assembly. Further, the receive subsystem includes a silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) positioned to receive light traveling through the aperture.

Light detection and ranging (lidar) device having a light-guide manifold

Example embodiments described herein involve a static dome assembly for light detection and ranging (LiDAR) systems. The system may include a base. At least one LiDAR system may be coupled to the base. The at least one LiDAR system may be configured to transmit and receive light having one or more wavelengths. The assembly may further include a housing encompassing the at least one LiDAR system. The housing may be statically coupled to the base. The housing may further include a dome. The dome may include a wall that is transparent to the one or more wavelengths. The wall may also include a high impact polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) material having an index of refraction of less than 1.55.

This technology relates to a system for cooling sensor components. The cooling system may include a sensor which has a sensor housing, a motor, a main vent, and a side vent. Internal sensor components may be positioned within the sensor housing. The motor may be configured to rotate the sensor housing around an axis. The rotation of the sensor housing may pull air into an interior portion of the sensor housing through the main vent, and the air pulled into the interior portion of the sensor housing may be exhausted out of the interior portion of the sensor housing through the side vent.

This technology relates to a system for preventing particle buildup on a sensor housing. The system may include a sensor housing including a first surface, a motor, and a spoiler edge. The motor may be configured to rotate the sensor housing around an axis. The spoiler edge may be positioned adjacent to the first surface and extended away from the first surface perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the sensor housing.

This technology relates to a cooling system for reducing the amount of heat within a sensor housing. The system comprising a cold plate containing an interior liquid cooling channel containing a cooling fluid, a heat exchanger attached to the cold plate, and at least one fan configured to generate an air flow loop. The heat exchanger is configured to draw heat from the air flow loop and pass the drawn heat to the cold plate, which in turn, passes the drawn heat to the cooling liquid.

A side view mirror assembly includes a retention mechanism, a securing mechanism, and a reflective surface. The retention mechanism may be configured to engage at least a portion of a windowsill of a vehicle. The securing mechanism may be connected to the retention mechanism and configured to removably secure the mirror assembly to a surface of the vehicle. The reflective surface may be connected to the retention mechanism.
