Vane assemblies are described. The vane assemblies include a platform, an airfoil extending from the platform, a forward rail extending from the platform and arranged along a forward side of the platform, and an aft rail extending from the platform and arranged along an aft side of the platform. At least one support beam is provided extending in a forward-aft direction between the forward rail and the aft rail and separated from the platform by a first distance. The at least one support beam has a thickness in a radial direction of 40% or less of a total radial extent from the platform to an outer diameter edge of at least one of the forward rail and the aft rail and the at least one support beam has a thickness in a circumferential direction of 30% or less of a total circumferential extent of vane assembly.

A vane ring for a gas turbine engine includes a multiple of vanes that extend between the inner vane platform and the outer vane platform, each of the multiple of vanes contains an airfoil cooling circuit that receives cooling airflow through a respective one of a multiple of feed passages; a multiple of metering passages in the outer vane platform, each of the multiple of metering passages in communication with the respective one of the multiple of feed passages; and a multiple of secondary passages in the outer vane platform, each of the multiple of secondary passages in communication with the respective one of the multiple of metering passages.

A gas turbine engine includes first and second arc segments that each have leading and trailing sides and first and second circumferential sides. The first circumferential side includes a first slot portion and the second circumferential side includes a second slot portion. The first and second slot portions are in registration and together define a seal slot. At least the first slot portion has a first concave arced back wall. A feather seal is entrapped in the seal slot and includes first and second feather seal circumferential sides. At least the first feather seal circumferential side has a first convex arced edge that is adjacent the first concave arced back wall of the first slot portion.

At least one inbound region is defined between a first vane of the plurality of vanes and a second vane of the plurality of vanes. The first vane includes a suction side facing the inbound region. Each of the vanes includes a leading edge core passage and a trailing edge core passage. A plurality of electrical discharge machined (EDM) holes are disposed within at least 0.500 inches (12.7 mm) of a leading edge of the first vane. Each of the EDM holes connect a leading edge core passage of the vane to an exterior surface of the vane.

The airfoil shaped vane includes an internal cooling passage having a first inlet at the inner diameter platform and a second inlet at the outer diameter platform. An outer diameter platform cover is disposed radially outward of the outer diameter platform, relative to a radius of an arc defined by an arc of the outer diameter platform. The outer diameter platform includes at least one coolant cover inlet hole, the at least one coolant cover inlet hole being aligned with a corresponding second inlet.
