A method for making an admixture for concrete includes the steps of providing a carbon nanomaterial comprised of carbon nanoparticles and wetting and dispersing the carbon nanomaterial in a liquid organic solvent/compound mixture comprised of amine based compounds configured to de-agglomerate and uniformly disperse the carbon nanoparticles. The method also includes the step of selecting the organic/solvent compound mixture to perform the wetting and dispersing step and to also perform at least one additional function in a particular type of concrete. An admixture for making concrete comprises a suspension of uniformly dispersed carbon nanoparticles having a predetermined percentage range by mass of the admixture in an organic solvent/compound mixture comprising an amine based compound having a predetermined percentage range by mass of the organic solvent/compound mixture.

Methods and systems for making nanocarbon particle admixtures and concrete

A system includes a hydrogen fueled internal combustion engine, a fuel system configured to provide a flow of hydrogen fuel to the engine, and an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system configured to provide a flow of recirculated gas to the engine which includes exhaust gases. The system also includes an engine controller configured to control the fuel system and the EGR system, such that the engine receives a mixture which includes the hydrogen fuel, the ambient air and the recirculated gas in a stoichiometric fuel/air ratio that meets the torque demand on the engine. A method includes the steps of providing a flow of gaseous hydrogen fuel, a flow of ambient air, and a flow of recirculated exhaust gas to the engine. The method also includes the steps of mixing the flow of recirculated exhaust gas and the flow of ambient air, determining a flow of hydrogen fuel necessary to create a stoichiometric fuel/air ratio, and then regulating the hydrogen fuel flow to control the torque of the engine, minimize throttling work and provide a mixture comprised of the hydrogen fuel, the ambient air and the exhaust gas in a stoichiometric fuel/air ratio.

A gas blending and compressing system includes a blender having a blending chamber configured to blend two or more separate gases into a blended gas, a compressor configured to compress the blended gas to a selected pressure, and a control system configured to sense operational parameters of the blender and the compressor, to sense one or more properties of the blended gas and to control the operation of the blender and the compressor to maintain the quality of the blended gas. A method for blending and compressing two or more gases includes the steps of: blending the separate gases into a blended gas using the blender; compressing the blended gas using the compressor; and matching a constant flow through the compressor to a selected minimum flow dependent on nominal operating parameters of the compressor. Alternate embodiment systems and methods blend separate gases at high pressure without using a compressor. Various principles are applied at high pressure including choked flow and partial pressure blending.

A system for producing, dispensing, using and monitoring a hydrogen enriched fuel includes a producing system configured to produce the hydrogen enriched fuel, a vehicle having an engine configured to use the hydrogen enriched fuel, and a dispensing system configured to store and dispense the hydrogen enriched fuel into the vehicle. The system also includes a fuel delivery system on the vehicle configured to deliver the hydrogen enriched fuel to the engine, and a control system configured to control the producing system and to monitor the use of the hydrogen enriched fuel by the vehicle. A method includes the steps of producing hydrogen gas and a hydrocarbon fuel, blending the hydrogen gas and the hydrocarbon fuel into the hydrogen enriched fuel, using the hydrogen enriched fuel in the engine, and tracking emissions during the producing step and during the using step.

System and method for producing, dispensing, using and monitoring a hydrogen enriched fuel

A hydrogen-fueled internal combustion engine utilizes either internal or external exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), while providing an overall stoichiometric fuel/air ratio. An EGR system provides recirculated exhaust gas to the engine, and an engine controller regulates fuel flow to control torque and achieve a stoichiometric fuel/air ratio. A three-way catalyst can be applied to the exhaust gas to produce near-zero emissions. In addition, turbocharging or mechanical supercharging can also be used to increase power.

The invention provides a system that controls the air intake pressure of a venturi mixer in an air/fuel ratio control system for gaseous fueled engines to match the fuel vaporizer/regulator output pressure (negative pressure) or to a desired set point of a fuel vaporizer/regulator connected to the fuel inlet of the venturi mixer. A differential pressure control valve in the air intake upstream of the venturi is used, which results in negative pressure vaporizer/regulators being compatible with the constant air/fuel ratio fluidic control principle of the venturi mixer. A differential pressure sensor or estimated differential pressure based on airflow and valve position is used in one embodiment to control the venturi intake air pressure to the desired set point. The set point may be zero or biased by an outer control loop of an engine controller.

Air/fuel ratio control system for gaseous fueled engines

A control valve module for gaseous fuels on spark ignited reciprocating engines is presented. The control valve module has a valve that controls gaseous fuel flow to a mixer or other device for air/fuel ratio control, an actuator for moving the valve position, and a controller. The controller receives a signal from a heated exhaust gas oxygen (HEGO) sensor that is an indication of the fuel/air ratio and actuates the valve to control the combustion mixture to a precise stoichiometric ratio.
