Refrigerator appliances for use with single serve dispensers, and methods for operating refrigerator appliances, are provided. A refrigerator appliance includes a dispensing assembly. The dispensing assembly includes an outlet conduit configured for flowing a liquid therefrom, the outlet conduit disposed in the dispenser recess, a housing for supporting the single serve dispenser, the housing disposed in the dispenser recess, and a flow control device upstream of and in fluid communication with the outlet conduit, the flow control device outputting liquid at a generally constant pressure.

Refrigerator appliance and method for use with single serve dispenser

A dispensing switch in an appliance and a method of controlling a dispensing assembly based on a plurality of outputs of the dispensing switch is provided. A dispensing assembly can dispense ice cubes and/or water from the appliance when the dispensing switch is actuated. The dispensing switch can have a plurality of outputs. For instance, the dispensing switch can provide outputs through a common terminal, a normally open terminal, and a normally closed terminal. When the dispensing switch is actuated, a controller can monitor the plurality of terminals to determine whether a change in the outputs has occurred. After the controller determines that a change in the outputs of the dispensing switch has occurred, the controller can control the dispensing assembly based on the outputs of the dispensing switch.

An apparatus includes a refrigerator door, comprising an inner door material and an outer door material, wherein a portion of the outer door material of the refrigerator is formed into a shape of a dispenser recess. The apparatus also includes a support structure, wherein the support structure is situated behind the dispenser recess of the outer door material and in front of the inner door material, and wherein the support structure facilitates implementation of one or more dispenser features. A refrigerator using the apparatus is also disclosed.

An ice dispensing assembly in an appliance and a method of controlling a duct door in an ice dispensing assembly is provided. A duct door is actuated to dispense ice using a motor. The motor can be variably driven using an electrical signal having a plurality of different levels or slopes during the actuation of the duct door. The electrical signal can have an increasing slope when the duct door is actuated into an open position. When the duct door is held in the open position, a constant electrical signal can be applied to the motor. The constant value can be lower than a peak value of the increasing slope of the electrical signal. To return the duct door to a closed position, an electrical signal having a decreasing slope can be applied to the duct door motor.
