A lug arrangement for electrically connecting a conductor to a terminal of a circuit breaker. The lug arrangement includes a lug having a lug opening and first and second holes. The lug opening includes an opening for receiving the conductor and a slot for receiving the terminal. The lug arrangement includes a lug screw threadably engaged with the first hole for compressing the conductor against the terminal. Further, the lug arrangement includes a lug retainer for insertion into both the second hole and a third hole formed in the terminal. The lug retainer includes at least one protrusion that is moveable from a first position to a deflected position for enabling insertion of the lug retainer into the second hole. The at least one protrusion is also moveable back to the first position wherein the protrusion engages the second hole to attach the lug retainer to the lug.

Circuit breakers having an electrical contact assembly with a moving electrical contact that is linearly translatable within an inner cavity are disclosed. A guide linearly carries a moveable contact assembly having the moving electrical contact and the guide has one or more guide supports accessible by a drive member external to the cavity. According to another aspect, a circuit breaker electrical contact assembly and method of operating a circuit breaker is provided, as are other aspects.

A switching device, in particular a circuit breaker, is disclosed including a switching shaft for mounting a rotary contact link. According to at least one embodiment of the invention, the rotary contact link has at least one groove-shaped longitudinal cutout, arranged within and along the transversely running cutout in relation to the switching shaft. Two grooves, which are arranged radially opposite one another, with in each case a bend or arcuate profile are provided in the cutout of the switching shaft, the respective two ends of the grooves being positioned radially further outward than the respective central region thereof. In each case one groove is connected to the at least one groove-shaped longitudinal cutout via a transverse bolt guided there between. At least one prestressed spring element is provided which pushes the respective transverse bolt radially outward.
