The present invention is directed to an apparatus for reducing and constraining EMI (electronic magnetic radiation) emissions without affecting the internals of data storage system components. A baffle is attached to the exterior of the housing of a data storage system component by baffle mounts. The baffle is operable between a closed position, where the baffle blocks EMI emitted by connectors on the data storage system component, and an open position, where the connectors are not blocked allowing for servicing and cable management. The baffle may comprise an EMI absorbing material and be tuned to meet specific EMI requirements. The baffle mounts offsets the baffle from the data storage system component and the baffle includes a number of holes to allow airflow. The adjustable EMI baffling apparatus does not interfere with other mounted components while the data storage system component is mounted in a cabinet.

A system including an EMI shield. In an embodiment, the system includes a chassis with at least one bay for receiving a replaceable unit and a lip. The replaceable unit includes a housing and a faceplate. Further, a gasket is operationally coupled to the replaceable unit housing and the replaceable unit faceplate for reducing electromagnetic radiation emissions from the replaceable unit and chassis interface. The gasket may include four sides which are configured to provide a varying force-compression curve along the length of the gasket. Upon installation of the replaceable unit, the lip defined within the chassis compresses the gasket to provide a constant force per unit length and form an electromagnetic interference shield with uninterrupted electrical conductivity.

A method for integrating Six Sigma into an inspection receiving process of outsourced products may include the following steps: defining specification limits for product acceptance criteria; identifying and reporting a substandard product to authorized personnel for disposition via a MES (manufacturing execution system) and SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition); preparing a report containing historical data, identifying root cause and assigning a corrective action; segregating the substandard product, and documenting the substandard product in the MES; disposing the substandard product; documenting and recording the corrective action in the MES; and outlining a method of recovery and eliminating a non-conforming incoming product. The present method may provide a device for a Closed Loop Corrective Action (CLCA).

The present invention is directed to a method and system for automating data storage array components testing. A serial number of a data storage array component (i.e., product) is used to determine if the product is of high priority (rank) in comparison with other products in a queue and there is any test cell available for testing the product. Next, if a test is required, the product type and test requirements of the product are retrieved from a database based on the serial number, and the product is routed to the test cell from an assembly line. Then the product and a storage component interface module of the test cell are positioned so that the product and the storage component interface module face each other. The storage component interface module is chosen based on the test requirements retrieved from the database. Next the product is docked into the storage component interface so that the product is connected to the storage component interface module. Then the test is run to completion. The product is then routed down the assembly line to packaging and the customer.
