When a user is responding to a message in a thread and a new response message is detected for the thread, the user's response is automatically re-parented so the user's response is sent as a response to the newly detected response message in the thread.

Dynamically re-parenting email messages based on updated conversations

An extensibility model is used to provide active and interactive functionality in communication items, but the embodiments are not so limited. A computer system of an embodiment includes components configured to identify one or more activation triggers that operate to activate gadget code using an isolated code execution environment as part of injecting content into an email communication. A method of one embodiment provides an extensibility framework for using defined gadget triggers and associated gadget functionality as part of automatically injecting content inline with a mail message.

Extensibility features for electronic communications

A message related to a first thread is received, and a fork in the conversation is identified. The received message is placed in a second thread and a display shows the fork and that the two threads are related.

Identifying relationships between message threads

Technologies are described for chronological re-ordering of transmitted conversation components. A message transmitting a message chain in the conversation through a forward or reply action, or addition of a new participant may be kept at the top and the remainder of messages may be re-ordered in chronological order. In some examples, the displayed properties (metadata) or header information may be normalized, that is displayed in a consistent manner. In other examples, flat header information (textual data) may be analyzed and enriched. Thus, the header information may be presented with interactive features such as presence information, calendar presentation, and comparable ones.

Conversation enrichment through component re-order

An electronic messaging client caches copies of a subset of electronic messages available in a remote store in a local store of a user device. When the user device is in an online state, the client provides for the blended presentation of electronic messages such that a user can concurrently view information about the electronic messages that have been cached in the local store as well as information about electronic messages that are stored only in the remote store. The client also presents a blended state associated with a container of electronic messages to a user of a user device and enables a user to execute a search of cached electronic messages stored in a local store as well as of electronic messages stored in the remote store.

System and method for blended presentation of locally and remotely stored electronic messages

When a message is received, the recipient set in the message, as well as ancestor message identifiers, are analyzed. The received message is either placed in an existing thread in an existing conversation, or in a new thread in the conversation, based upon the analysis of the recipient set and the ancestor identifiers.
