The description relates to device pairing. One example can involve a computing device (e.g., companion device) and a stylus. The companion device can have a display and be configured to communicate in accordance with a wireless protocol. The stylus can be configured to transmit proximity information to the computing device when a user brings a tip of the stylus proximate to the display and be configured to supply wireless protocol identification information with the proximity information. The computing device can be configured to pair with the stylus over the wireless protocol using the wireless protocol identification information without requiring any additional action from the user on the computing device or the stylus.

Automatic device pairing

Examples of the disclosure enable managing a user account, such that a peripheral device is configured to interact with one or more user devices associated with the user account. In some examples, a device identity associated with the peripheral device is identified, and it is determined whether the device identity is associated with a user account. Upon determining that the device identity is associated with the user account, the peripheral device is paired with a user device associated with the user account without manually pairing the peripheral device with the user device. Examples of the disclosure enable the peripheral device to interact with one or more user devices in an efficient, user-friendly manner.

Cloud-based cross-device digital pen pairing

A display device includes a display controller and a timing controller to drive frames at a frame rate onto a display. The display device may include sensor circuitry to detect a signal from a pen. The signal from the pen includes a sync signal indicative of a repetition rate of the signal. In one embodiment, the sync signal and the display timer are asynchronous. The sensor circuitry is configured to sense the signal from the pen during sensing windows, where timing of the sensing windows is based on the repetition rate. In one embodiment, the display controller is configured to pause driving a frame onto the display during the sensing windows.

Mitigating display noise for touch and pen sensing

Examples of the disclosure enable a stylus to include a plurality of portions configured to transmit synchronized signals. In some examples, the stylus includes a first portion configured to transmit a first signal in a first pattern, and a second portion configured to transmit a second signal in a second pattern different from the first pattern such that the second signal is distinguishable from the first signal. On receiving the first signal, a user device is configured to provide a first functionality and, on receiving the second signal, the user device is configured to provide a second functionality. Examples of the disclosure enable the stylus to include a plurality of portions configured to interact with a user device in an efficient and/or cost-effective manner.

Techniques for a handheld input apparatus are described. Generally, a handheld input apparatus can be used to provide input to various types of devices. According to various embodiments, a described handheld input apparatus includes a strain sensor for determining different load forces on a tip of the apparatus. According to various embodiments, a described handheld input apparatus includes components for determining an angular and/or rotational orientation of the apparatus relative to an input surface. Based on the different determined forces and/or orientation information, input characteristics of a handheld input apparatus can be controlled.

Devices are described herein that include an electrode having a thickness to, among other things, facilitate tracking. For example, the thickness of an electrode that is included in a device may be configured to cause a midpoint of a projection of the electrode on a sensor matrix to track a point on the device (or on a portion thereof, such as the electrode) that is closest to the sensor matrix. In another example, the thickness may be configured to cause a location of the electrode that is detected by the sensor matrix to track a point on the device (or on a portion thereof, such as the electrode) that is closest to the sensor matrix.

Examples described herein generally relate to a display device and computing device where a display is configured for displaying images, a display controller is configured for receiving image data via a display port when coupled to a computing device, and sending signals to the display, based on the image data, to cause the display to display the images, and a memory is accessible by the display controller for storing a resume image received from the computing device. The display controller is further configured for detecting a power on event, accessing the memory to obtain the resume image, and sending signals to the display to cause display of the resume image based at least in part on detecting the power on event.

Techniques for storing and displaying an image on a display device

A stylus pen is disclosed that can be used as an input device to a digitizer associated with a computer screen on a computing device, such as a computer, mobile device, tablet, etc. The stylus pen can include a voltage boost circuit that generates a stylus output signal on an antenna output. The voltage boost circuit has a charging portion and a discharging portion. Both portions have transistors that are activated and deactivated through pulsed control signals. However, a pulse duration for each control signal is separately controllable through different RC-based circuits. Additionally, the voltage boost circuit provides power savings by draining the output voltage signal to a positive voltage rail, rather than ground.

A system and method for detecting electrical idle in a receiver is disclosed herein. A receiver includes a differential receiver, an analog idle detector, and a first filter. The differential receiver receives a variable rate differential signal. The analog idle detector is coupled to the differential receiver. The analog idle detector provides a first idle signal that erroneously identifies a differential signal electrical idle state. The first filter is coupled to the analog idle detector. The first filter processes the first idle signal and generates a second idle signal lacking the idle state errors of the first idle signal. The first filter provides the second idle signal to receiver control logic that controls signal reception.

A system is provided, the system includes a phase-locked loop (PLL) that multiplies a reference clock input to generate a communication link clock signal. The system also includes a transmitter/receiver (TX/RX) module coupled to the PLL, the TX/RX module is configured to transmit and receive data based on the communication link clock signal. The system also includes a divider coupled to the PLL, the divider receives the communication link clock signal and outputs a PLL-adjusted reference clock that approximates the reference clock input. Systems and methods for implementing voltage supply noise analysis for electronic circuits are disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment a computer program product executes a computer process. The computer process generates at least one spatial profile for the electronic circuit, generates at least one temporal profile for the electronic circuit, merges the at least one temporal profile and the at least one spatial profile, and determines if the electronic circuit is operating within acceptable voltage noise margins based on the merged temporal and spatial profiles.

In one embodiment, a circuit is provided that includes a precharge device, a DNG FET transistor, and at least one pull-down FET transistor with a floating body. The precharge device is connected to a precharge node for charging it during a precharge state. The DNG FET transistor is connected between a DNG node and a charge sink for operably linking the DNG node to the charge sink during an evaluate state. In addition, the DNG transistor has an associated precharge leakage current. The at least one pull-down FET transistor has an input threshold voltage whose value is inversely affected by its floating body voltage. The at least one pull-down transistor is connected between the precharge node and the DNG node for discharging the precharge node during the evaluate state if so dictated by logical function input values applied to the pull-down transistors during the evaluate state. The DNG leakage current, during the precharge state, draws a sufficient amount of charge from the DNG node to maintain the at least one pull-down transistor body voltage(s) at a sufficiently low value so that the precharge node does not wrongfully evaluate to a discharge level during the evaluate state.
