A method and system for improving virtual machine allocation and migration is provided. The method includes initiating a migration process for migrating database files of a virtual machine from a first hardware device to a second hardware device. A checkpoint and restart command is transmitted to a first hypervisor of the first hardware device and a request for a cryptographic key from a memory encryption engine is received. The cryptographic key is transmitted to a first enclave and the first enclave is encrypted resulting in an encrypted enclave. A resulting a data file comprising the database files is generated and the encrypted enclave is disconnected from the first hardware device. The encrypted enclave is destroyed and checkpoint and restart code is executed for restarting the first hardware device.

Managing file transfers is provided. In response to receiving a request from a user of a first mainframe to transfer a data file to a second mainframe using a file transfer protocol, the request is intercepted to perform a comparison of the request with data maintained in a file transfer matrix of predetermined criteria that includes a set of policies. In response to determining that a match exists between the request and the data maintained in the file transfer matrix based on the comparison, the request is identified as eligible for an object storage file transfer protocol. An object storage file transfer is initiated by pausing processing of the file transfer protocol. Copy and dump of the data file on a cloud object-based storage system is executed using the object storage file transfer protocol. The request is replaced with a dummy request.

Dynamically performing managed file transfer based on policies

A computerized predictive workload scheduling tool and methods for analytically implementing a predictive job schedule. The scheduling tool incorporates and uses analytics to leverage information from a plurality of data sources to anticipate and pro-actively correct computing system job failures before they occur. The predictive scheduling tool generates a job schedule, analyzes the job schedule for predictable failures and resolves the identified failures by amending the job schedule. The job schedule generated and analyzed by the scheduling tool is deployed, analyzed and resolved for errors as needed or identified to prevent failures from occurring.
