A dam spillway for the passage of water from a forebay to an afterbay comprises a means for compressing the atmospheric air by the passing water and a floatation chamber connected to said means. The floatation chamber incorporates a froth separating cavity having a lower wall thereof in the form of a smooth concave curve. Accommodated in the upper portion of the froth separating cavity substantially above the water level of the afterbay is a froth remover in the form of a tubular member provided with a longitudinal slot facing the interior of the cavity. Secured on the froth remover is an assembly of water sprinkling froth suppressing sprayers adapted to communicate with the forebay. Connected to the upper portion of the froth remover adjacent to the sprayer assembly are perforated air ducts secured at the bottom of the afterbay.

A dam spillway to pass water over the crest from a forebay into an afterbay comprises a mixing chamber communicating with a diffuser; said mixing chamber has an intake arrangement ensuring formation downstream of the diffuser of a flotation zone with a froth collector installed at the end thereof; said intake arrangement includes a water flow divider, a water breaking grid and air intake ducts, the divider being installed above the chamber and made in the form of a screen composed of chutes; said water breaking grid of the intake arrangement composed of bluff members is provided in the inlet portion of the chamber, whereas the air intake ducts of said intake arrangement are made in a wall of the mixing chamber below the grid in close proximity thereto.

A carbon graphite material for brushes of electric machines contains ultraphosphates of metals which are sealed by film-forming polymers. The material is impregnated in a mixture of a metal chloride with an aqueous solution of orthophosphoric acid and heat treated to form ultraphosphates of metals evenly distributed throughout the entire volume of the material. The material is then impregnated in a film-forming polymer resin solution, which enhances the contact characteristics of the material, and again heat treated till the resin is fully polymerized. As a result, the ultraphosphates which have formed earlier in the material, are sealed, thus becoming hydrolytically stable; at the same time, the contact characteristics of the material improve generally, the material becoming highly wear resistant, capable of operating within a wide range of temperatures, pressures and humidity.

The present invention relates to heavy-current electrical engineering, and more particularly to carbon-graphite brushes characterized by high wear resistance and low adhesive capacity of the brush dust, said brushes being intended for operation in commutator machines under moderate or heavy commutation conditions at an operating temperature of the sliding contact from 200.degree. to 250.degree. C, and to a method for manufacturing same. Carbon-graphite brushes for electric machines are made of a material which, after impregnation and heat treatment of the organic impregnation compound contains a dry residue evenly distributed through out the entire bulk volume thereof, the dry residue being a mixture of melamine-glyptal resin with a metal linoleate, in a polymerized state. A method for manufacturing carbon-graphite brushes, wherein said brushes are impregnated with a compound based on melamine-glyptal resin and a metal linoleate dissolved in toluene or turpentine oil or any other solvent then heat treated at temperature ranging from 120.degree. to 180.degree. C till the impregnant is fully polymerized, the rated content of the dry residue in the brushes being to 0.5-10% by weight with respect to the initial weight of the brush material.
