A system and method for monitoring utilization and waste of a natural resource, such as water. Data is received indicating natural resource consumption by a facility. An indication of at least one period of natural resource usage by the facility is received. Natural resource usage corresponding to utilization of the natural resource for a useful purpose. Quantities of the natural resource consumed by the facility during the at least one period of water usage is recorded as a utilized quantity.

A system and method wherein a sender can create an e-mail or other communication cancellation request which identifies a previously-sent communication, bears the communication type designation of a cancellation request as its &ldquo;subject&rdquo; or &ldquo;reference&rdquo;, and is automatically communicated to all of the same sites to which the previously-sent communication was sent. At the receiving end, a cancellation agent monitors the &ldquo;subject&rdquo; of all incoming communications to determine if any are cancellation requests. If a cancellation request is detected at the receiving end, the cancellation agent locates the identified communication and deletes same. Once the communication has been deleted, the cancellation agent replies to the cancellation request by notifying the sender of the location at which the identified communication was found (e.g., inbox folder, trash folder, etc.) and of deletion of the communication. Should the cancellation agent be unable to locate the communication, due to the fact that the recipient has permanently deleted the communication or has downloaded same, the sender is notified of that fact.

The present invention uses multiple broadcast television channels to distribute high volume of data to a client device from a server. Multiple analog channels are broadcast, at least one of which contains video/audio programs and control data inserted into the analog signal's VBI; and at least one separate channel contains a digital data stream which is modulated onto an analog channel and associated with channels containing those video/audio programs. STBs designed to implement this invention are equipped with at least two tuners in order to tune to two of those channels simultaneously. One tuner is used to tune to the video/audio channel, and extract the control data in the VBI. The second tuner is used to tune to the channels containing the data itself.
