An epoxy resin system comprising a) at least one nitrogen containing epoxy compound having at least two epoxy groups, b) at least one phosphorus compound with at least one epoxy group, c) at least one metallic complex compound as curing agent and d) optionally filler and additive substances free of halogenated compounds and having a low degree of inflammability.

A coating material crosslinkable by radiation comprising a) an olefinic unsaturated ester of an epoxy novolac resin, b) a binder formed by reaction of an epoxy compound having more than one epoxide group per molecule with at least one carboxylic acid in a molar ratio of epoxy groups per carboxyl group of 1:0.5 to 0.9 and subsequent reaction of the resulting reaction product with at least one unsaturated isocyanate ester formed by reaction of a compound with at least two isocyanate groups with a member of the group consisting of hydroxyl containing acrylic acid, methacrylic acid and cyanacrylic acid esters, c) at least one latent hardener, d) at least one photoinitiator e) 80-120% by weight of fillers and (f) additives, adjuvants and solvents and protective films formed with them.

Coating materials containing a reaction product of an epoxy novolak

An epoxy resin adhesive, sealing or coating composition containing as a curing agent an addition product of A) at least one member of the group consisting of primary amines and secondary amines and B) at least one ester having a formula selected from the group consisting of ##STR1## wherein m is 0 or 1, n is an integer from 3 to 25, 0 is an integer from 1 to 20, p is an integer from 1 to 10, R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of furyl, phenyl and hydrogen, R.sub.2 is hydrogen or methyl R.sub.3 is ##STR2## R.sub.5 is methylene or --CH.sub.2 --CH--CH.sub.2 --R.sub.6 --CH.sub.2 --. Amine-unsaturated epoxidized polysulfide addition products

A process for the preparation of 2-oxo-1, 3-dioxolanes comprises reacting an epoxy compound having at least one functional epoxy group in the optional presence of an inert solvent with carbon dioxide at 60.degree. C. to 200.degree. C. at normal pressure in the presence of a quaternary phosphonium compound as catalyst and novel quaternary phosphonium compounds useful as catalysts in the said process.

Production of cyclic carbonates

Binder mixtures crosslinkable by radiation comprising as component A a product obtained by reaction of an epoxy compound with more than one epoxide group per molecule with at least one carboxylic acid in a molar ratio of epoxide groups to carboxyl groups of 1:0.5-0.9 and subsequent reaction of the reaction product with at least one unsaturated isocyanatocarbamate esters and as component B a product obtained by reaction of an epoxy compound with more than one epoxide group per molecule with at least one olefinic unsaturated carboxylic acid in a molar ratio of epoxide groups to carboxyl groups of 1:&gt;&gt;1 and subsequent reaction of the reaction product with at least one polybasic carboxylic acid or anhydride(s) thereof, components A and B being present in a weight ratio of 3:1 to 1:3 useful for the product of superior photo-resists and protective lacquers.

Binder mixtures crosslinkable by radiation

A hardening agent for epoxy prepared by reacting A) a hydroxy containing ketimino compound with B) a diisocyanate compound with one isocyanate group blocked, reacting the resulting adduct with C) a polyether amine and hydrolysis of the reaction product, reactants A), B) and C) being in approximately stoichiometric amounts resulting in flexible hardened products of good resistance to chemicals and aging.

Novel hardening agents

Novel hardening agents for epoxy compounds which are produced by reaction of polyalkylene, polyether amines having a mean molecular weight of 148 to 5,000 with di and/or polyepoxy compounds to a preliminary product, the ratio of the hydrogen atoms possibly remaining after reaction with monoepoxy compounds and bound to nitrogen and which are capable of reaction with epoxide groups, to epoxide groups of diepoxy compounds or polyepoxy compounds in the range of 1:1.4 to 6, and reaction of this preliminary product with a primary or secondary amine, the employed amine or amine mixture being used in an amount such that the ratio of epoxide groups capable of reaction to hydrogen atoms attached to nitrogen is 1:2 to 10.

Epoxy hardening agents

In a composite produced by hot pressing multilayer duroplastic prepregs of reinforcing materials impregnated with a duroplastic resin system, the improvement comprising at least one layer of an epoxy resin prepreg and at least one layer of a phenolic resin prepreg are pressed together, the composite having low fume density, increased non-flammability and good solvent and moisture resistance useful for production of structural components.
