A melt-sealing device for extruders for thermoplastic polymers or rubber for sealing off the gear unit side against high-melt pressure, in which sealing is effected by the configuration of the extruder screw which includes an intake section, a compression section having a channel depth that decreases in the conveying direction, a metering section with a constant screw channel depth, a smooth annular melt channel section, and a blister element with an annular gap for the sealing melt.

Melt-sealing device for extruders for the processing of thermoplastic

An extrusion device for processing thermoplastic plastics material and rubber has a housing and primary screw means rotatably mounted therein. The device includes a discharge zone in which a sleeve member provided with external flights is mounted on a bearing shaft so as to be rotatable about its longitudinal axis, which sleeve member is drivable by the primary screw means but in an opposite direction thereto so as to increase the discharge pressure acting on the material being processed.

Extrusion device

An apparatus for granulating thermoplastics materials comprising a nozzle plate and a cutter device in which the spacing between these integers can be pre-set and accurately maintained. This is achieved by isolating the component parts of the granulation apparatus, particularly a housing for the cutter device, which is subjected to variable thermal expansion, from the components which locate the cutter device in front of the nozzle plate.

Apparatus for granulating plastics materials

A device for monitoring the filling level of the degassing space in an extruder used for processing thermoplastic materials comprises a level detection orifice located in the degassing dome or jacket of the extruder which opening is connected to a conduit. The conduit leads through a regulator device to a gas source. Connected to the conduit, between the regulator device and the orifice, is a pressure sensor such as a pressure difference switch. If the level of molten material in the dome rises above a preselected level, it blocks the opening and produces a back-pressure in the conduit. The switch is automatically actuated by this back-pressure and produces a signal. Appropriate action can then be taken to prevent the further rise of the molten material in the dome and to prevent blockage of the degassing device.

Filling level monitoring device

A granulation apparatus in which a conical chamber having a downwardly and outwardly inclined wall is provided for collecting cut granules. The wall is covered with a flowing, circulating film of water, such film being of uniform thickness and circulating quickly. An annular water channel is provided around the cylindrical or conical chamber for collecting the granules, the annular channel being fed through a tangential water inlet. A flat, annular horizontal acceleration chamber is disposed in the upper region of the annular channel and communicates with the channel through an annular aperture formed in the upper radially outward region of the annular channel. At its radially inner periphery the acceleration chamber communicates with the chamber through an annular aperture. The disposition of the inlet, the channel and the acceleration chamber cause water flowing into the chamber to be subjected to centrifugal force whereby the film of water remains closely adjacent the wall and is of uniform thickness.

Apparatus for granulating plastics material or plastic compositions

Granulating apparatus having a cutting plate and a multi-blade cutting tool drivable by drive means and cooperating with the cutting plate, wherein, to ensure that the operating conditions, particularly fluctuating temperatures of the various components causing differential expansion, do not affect the setting of the cutter blades with respect to the cutting plate, the cutting plate, the bearing housing, the fixed bearing, the cutting blade shaft, the blade holder and the cutting blades are mechanically interconnected with one another with such interconnection disposed approximately in the cutting plane defined between the cutting plate and the cutting blades, whereby axial force-locking and form-locking connection of the components starting from the cutting plate and extending by way of the bearing means to the cutting blades, extends approximately in the cutting plane.
