A radiation curable and at least partially biobased urethane (meth)acrylate for use in a one-component coating composition for cladding an outdoor surface of a building, obtained from the reaction of at least the following compounds: a. a polyisocyanate compound having a biobased carbon content of at least 20%, preferably at least 50%, as determined by method A of the standard ASTM D6866-12:2008, and b. a (meth)acrylate compound, different from compound a, and containing a reactive group capable to react with isocyanate groups.

The present invention relates to a radiation curable composition comprising: (I) A radiation curable component comprising a compound having at least one ethylenically unsaturated group and (II) A chlorinated polyester component that is prepared from (A) A polyol component which is substantially free of any Bisphenol A derivative compound and which is substantially free of any cyclic ether polyol compound, said polyol component comprising a polyol compound (Ai) which is cyclic and which has at least two hydroxyl groups, and (B) A polycarboxylic acid component comprising a compound (Bi) having at least one chlorine group and at least two carboxyl groups, (C) optionally at least one monoalcohol compound, (D) optionally at least one monocarboxylic acid compound, (III) optionally at least one polycarboxylic acid compound substantially free of chlorine groups.

Radiation curable compositions

The present invention provides the methods for producing a UV-curable acrylic copolymer. The method includes polymerizing a mixture of monomers comprising (i) 40-95 wt % of at a (meth) acrylate monomer, (ii) 5-60 wt % of a copolymerizable monomer, wherein the copolymerizable monomer is selected from those whose homopolymers have a glass transition temperature of higher than −30° C., and (iii) optionally 0.5-20 wt % of a copolymerizable functional monomer having a functional group selected from the group consisting of a hydroxyl group and a carboxyl group to form an acrylic copolymer. The method includes reacting the acrylic copolymer with at least one type of monomer comprising a UV-curable functional group in the presence of a catalyst to form the UV-curable acrylic copolymer. Also encompassed are UV-curable acrylic copolymers thus formed, adhesive composition comprising the UV-curable acrylic copolymers, methods for manufacturing adhesive sheets comprising the UV-curable acrylic copolymers, and use of the UV-curable acrylic copolymers.

UV-curable acrylic copolymers

The present invention relates to an UV-curable pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive obtainable by reacting in a first step a mixture comprising: (i) at least one acrylic monomer of formula (I) wherein Ris H or CH; and wherein Rand Rare both H or both CH; and n is an integer from 0 to 22; or mixtures thereof; and (ii) at least one monomer which comprises a pendant reactive functional group selected from cycloaliphatic epoxides, oxetanes, mono-substituted oxiranes or mixtures thereof; and in a second step reacting the obtained mixture from the first step with (iii) at least one cationic photoinitiator; and (iv) optionally further additives. Process for the preparation of radiation curable compositions

The present invention provides for an ethylenically unsaturated hydroxyl-terminated polyurethane (I) obtained by reacting (i) at least one ethylenically unsaturated compound (A) containing at least two reactive groups capable of reacting with isocyanate groups and at least one ethylenically unsaturated group; with (ii) at least one saturated alcohol component (B) comprising: (iia) at least one saturated hydroxylated compound (B1) containing hydrophilic groups capable of rendering the polyurethane dispersible in aqueous medium either directly or after the reaction with a neutralizing agent to provide a salt, and at least one compound (B2) that is selected from saturated polyester polyols (B21) and/or from saturated polycarbonate polyols (B22); and/or (iib) at least one compound (B3) that is selected from saturated polyester polyols (B31) containing compound (B1) moieties and/or from saturated polycarbonate polyols (B32) containing compound (B1) moieties; and, optionally, one or more of compounds (B1) and/or (B2); (iii) optionally, at least one ethylenically unsaturated compound (C) containing essentially one reactive group capable of reacting with isocyanate groups; and with (iv) at least one polyisocyanate (D). The present invention further relates to radiation curable coating compositions comprising same, to their preparation process and their uses.

The present invention further relates to dispersions in water containing same, to their production and uses.

The present invention relates to an aqueous composition comprising from 5 to 90% by weight of a polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated water dispersible polyurethane (A) and from 1 to 60% by weight relative to the weight of polyurethane (A) of a least one polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated compound (B) having a water solubility at 25&#xb0; C. of less than 50 g/l, and it use for making high gloss coatings as well as wood stains.
