A hydrodynamic device, including a vaned rotor wheel, a vaned stator wheel and an electromagnetic clutch, is located, as a heater, in a cooling water circuit of an internal combustion machine and can be switched on and off as a function of the temperature of the medium to be monitored. In order to obtain a further use for such a hydrodynamic device, the latter is arranged in such a way that, in a switched position in which it is not effective for heating, it is effective as a hydrodynamic clutch for driving the water pump.

An indicating arrangement for a distance warning system in motor vehicles which are equipped with measuring and evaluating devices for determining the distance of the vehicle to an obstacle disposed in front thereof and for determining the approach velocity to this vehicle; a desired value is thereby derived from the determined values for the brake deceleration necessary for the avoidance of a collision and an actual value is determined from the actual deceleration values attained during the braking operation whereby only the difference or the ratio of desired and actual value is thereby indicated to the driver.

Indicating arrangement for a distance warning installation in motor

An installation for controlling a measuring beam and/or a light beam in motor vehicles, in which at least one measuring and/or light beam transmitted from the vehicle serves for measuring the distance or illuminating objects which are located ahead of the vehicle in its own lane; measuring devices are thereby arranged in the motor vehicle which determine at least the vehicle velocity and the transverse acceleration as well as possibly the longitudinal acceleration or deceleration for correcting the assumed theoretical braking action and, under certain circumstances, still other relevant vehicle magnitudes; the beam transmitter is then controllable as regards the beam range and/or beam opening angle and/or angle deviation of the beam with respect to the vehicle longitudinal axis by a computer as a function of these measured values.
