A method of authorizing a key or lock device comprises the following steps: a first user device and a first system device used in a first level of a lock system, such as at a manufacturer, are created. A first encryption key is stored in the first user device and the first system device. When the user device is to be shipped to a second level of the lock system, such as a locksmith, an authentication process is carried out between the first user device and the first system device using the first encryption key stored therein. In case the authentication process was successful, a software operation is carried out by the first system device, by which the first encryption key stored in the first user device is replaced by a second encryption key. This second encryption key is stored in second system and user devices used in the second level of the lock system, thereby making the first user device operable with the second system and user devices. This prevents unauthorized use of keys and locks.

Key and lock device

A key and lock device comprises a key having a first electronic circuit and a lock having a second electronic circuit. The key and the lock store secret information, some of which is unique for each device. The key and the lock exchange a random number through connectors and perform a calculation in the respective circuitry based on the random number and secret information. An electrical blocking mechanism is moved to a non-blocking position if a comparison of the calculations in the circuits gives the correct result.

The invention relates to a lock-key system comprising a flat key (), which is insertable into the keyway of a cylinder core (), wherein grooves () and ribs () inside the keyway are assigned to corresponding ribs () and grooves () located on both flat sides of the key (), wherein the key is subdivided from the key spine () to the key facing into different profile sections. The middle profile section is assigned to at least one groove () on one outer surface of the keyway () and to a rib () on the opposite outer surface of the keyway. Both the groove () as well as the rib () comprise a flank ('), which extends perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to the center plane of the key or of the keyway, and comprise a flank (&#x2033;), which extends slantingly to this center plane. The perpendicular or substantially perpendicular flank of the groove faces the opposite slanted flank of the rib, and the perpendicular or substantially perpendicular flank of the rib faces the opposite slanted flank of the groove.

Lock-key system

A lock and key combination includes profile shapes extending along the lateral faces of the key which extend at an angle relative to the key spine to make acquisition of replacement key copies more difficult.

A magnetic lock is provided which has a housing carrying a rotatable core with magnetic rotors and an axially displaceable lock bar which is rotationally connected to the core. A catch ring is provided with means engagable with the lock bar to drive the lock bar axially away from an initial position upon rotation of the core, and a return ring is provided with means engagable with the lock bar to drive the lock bar axially toward the initial position upon a further rotation of the core.
