The present invention is related to adhesive composition, having a polymer blend comprising a first propylene-based polymer, wherein the first propylene-based polymer is a homopolymer of propylene or a copolymer of propylene and ethylene or a Cto Calpha-olefin, and a second propylene-based polymer, wherein the second propylene-based polymer is a homopolymer of propylene or a copolymer of propylene and ethylene or a Cto Calpha-olefin; wherein the second propylene-based polymer is different than the first propylene-based polymer; wherein the polymer blend has a melt viscosity, measured at 190&#xb0; C. and determined according to ASTM D-3236, of about 1,000 cP to about 5,000 cP; a propylene polymer; and wherein the adhesive composition is substantially free of a functionalized polyolefin, wherein the functionalized polyolefin is selected from at least one of a maleic anhydride-modified polypropylene and a maleic anhydride-modified polypropylene wax.

Adhesive compositions made from propylene-based polymers and crystalline C2/C3 homopolymer

The present invention is related to pressure-sensitive hot melt adhesive compositions and their applications. In particular, the adhesive compositions described herein comprise a block copolymer component, a hydrocarbon tackifier resin component, and a propylene-based polymer component.

Pressure-sensitive hot melt adhesive compositions

The present invention is related to adhesive compositions comprising a polymer blend of at least two different propylene-based polymers and one or more tackifiers. The polymer blend has a melt viscosity of about 900 cP to about 19,000 cP. When subjected to Temperature Rising Elution Fractionation, the polymer blend exhibits a first fraction that is soluble at &#x2212;15&#xb0; C. in xylene, the first fraction having an isotactic (mm) triad tacticity of about 70 mol % to about 90 mol %; and a second fraction that is insoluble or less soluble than the first fraction at &#x2212;15&#xb0; C. in xylene, the second fraction having an isotactic (mm) triad tacticity of about 85 mol % to about 98 mol %. The tackifier has a softening point, as determined by ASTM E-28, of about 85 to about 135&#xb0; C. and an aromaticity of about 2 to about 12 mol % aromatic protons.

Tackified polyolefin adhesive compositions

A process for preparing a functionalized polymer composition and a functionalized polymer composition. The process comprises the steps of providing a hydrocarbon resin, a polyolefin and a graft monomer, and dispersing the hydrocarbon resin in the polyolefin, followed by adding the graft monomer under shear to prepare the functionalized polymer composition. The polyolefin can comprise a polyethylene polymer or a C3 to C40 polymer having a molecular weight (Mw) of at least 20000.

Composition and manufacture thereof

Improved adhesives are provided through the use of styrenic radial block copolymers, containing at least 40 wt % diblock copolymers, the adhesives have improved adhesive properties and a reduced elastic behavior under die-cutting conditions. Compared to conventional linear block copolymers of similar molecular weight, radial copolymers offer higher holding power and lower melt viscosity for the adhesive. They therefore contribute to an improved balance between processability and end-use properties.

The invention relates to a film for surface protection having at least one base layer and a surface layer for removably adhering to a substrate comprising at least 40 wt % of an elastomeric propylene-based polymer with a heat of fusion derived from isotactic propylene type crystallinity as determined by DSC of less than 40 J/g and optionally an ethylene-based polymer in the form of an ethylene-alpha-olefin copolymer having a density of less than 0.91 g/cmand/or an ethylene-vinyl ester copolymer having from 5 to 60 wt % of the ester derived units and/or optionally less than 40 wt % of a propylene based polymer having a heat of fusion of greater than 70 J/g. The films have good initial tack.
